***KPD Officers Complete First Line Supervisor School***

Congratulations to Officer Soua Xiong and Officer Mason Dallman, who graduated from the DOJ's First Line Supervisor School today! Developing future leaders is a critical responsibility of any organization and we were fortunate to have this two-week school hosted by the Stevens Point PD this year. Great work by both officers and thanks for your commitment to our department and the Village!

Below is text from the WI DOJ website that provides some insight into the school.

"The Wisconsin Department of Justice First Line Supervisory Program is designed to give new and aspiring field supervisors the management tools and competencies they need to succeed within their organizations. Just as strong leaders are invaluable in setting the organizations vision, strong field managers are needed to communicate and operationalize that vision.

The First Line Supervisory Program is the first standardized statewide leadership and management training program for law enforcement to provide baseline skills for current and developing organizational leaders and is the foundational training course for the Career Development Programs of the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Law Enforcement Services.

The DOJ First line Supervisors class is an 80-hour course which has been developed for a hybrid classroom which will include both in person and online work."

This week, our board vice president, Yee Leng Xiong, and board member, Stephanie Chang, had the wonderful opportunity to attend the AAPI Celebration at the Executive Residence, hosted by Governor Evers.

It was an inspiring event that highlighted the vibrant contributions of the AAPI community. We're grateful for the chance to connect with fellow community leaders and celebrate our shared heritage.

Thank you, Governor Evers, for your support and commitment to inclusivity!

Today, on May 14, Hmong-Lao Veterans Memorial Day, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering loyalty of Hmong and Lao veterans who fought alongside U.S. forces during the Vietnam War and the Secret War in Laos.

Their bravery saved countless lives, and their sacrifices did not end on the battlefield. Many and their families endured persecution, displacement, and the hardship of rebuilding their lives in a new country. Their story is a powerful part of our shared American history and must never be forgotten.

Today we remember those who gave their lives, we stand with the families who still carry the weight of that service, and we recommit ourselves to ensuring their contributions are recognized, respected, and taught to future generations.
