STEM Saturday brought learning to life! Kids had the chance to dig for “lead pipes", watch demonstrations, and learn more about why replacing lead service lines matters.

It was a fun, hands-on way to help families better understand the work happening right here in Wausau and how EquiFlow is helping move the community toward a lead-free future.

Exciting progress update, Wausau!

Since the EquiFlow program began, our crews have replaced a total of 3,000 lead service lines across the city, and that number keeps climbing every week.

Every line replaced means another household connected to lead-free drinking water, and another step forward for our community. This kind of progress doesn't happen without the crews in the field, the outreach team connecting with residents, and the Wausau residents who've said yes to this work.

The work is far from over, but the momentum is real.

The photo on the left shows a lead service line that was in the ground for decades before it was replaced. The photo on the right shows what that line looks like now, after replacement through the EquiFlow program.

If the pipe on the left looks familiar, or you're not sure what's running to your home, it's critical that you complete a verification either online or by appointment. From there, signing your Right of Entry (ROE) form is what allows us to move forward with a replacement like the one you see here.

Signing your Right of Entry (ROE) form is one of the most important steps in getting your lead service line replaced. This form gives permission for the City, EquiFlow, and approved EquiFlow contractors to access your service line for replacement.

Without a signed ROE, we cannot perform the replacement on your line, no matter how ready the crews are to get to work.

The good news? Signing is easy. You can complete your ROE online or fill out a paper copy, whichever works best for you.

Heads up, Wausau! As we move into August, EquiFlow crews will be actively working in Census Tracts 1, 2, 3, 5, & 7 to keep lead service line replacements moving forward.

If you live in or drive through these areas, keep an eye out for construction signage and give crews some extra room to work safely.

We appreciate your patience as this work continues. Every line replaced is a step closer to safer drinking water for our community.

Just had your service line replaced? Don't forget to flush your faucets!

Running water through your open faucets for at least 10 minutes after replacement helps prevent exposure to lead and other particles.

Crews will flush your new service line using an outdoor spigot - but it's important to flush your interior plumbing too. Swipe through the graphic for step-by-step instructions.
