Join us as ECDC—Multicultural Community Center reaches its 5-year anniversary!

Since opening our doors in 2021, we have been committed to making Wausau a home for refugees from all over the world. Now five years later, we look back at all the accomplishments we've made and what the next five years has in store.

The Journey Home Gala will be a chance to reflect on the journey refugees undergo to be a part of our community, and the journey our community has embarked on to make anyone who arrives feel welcomed, supported, and at home.

The Gala will feature international dinner options, stories from the refugee community, a silent auction, and live music!

Tickets are available on our website:

Thank you to the organizations, volunteers, community members, refugees, and local governance who attended our World Refugee Day event in collaboration with CAP Services, Inc.!

On World Refugee Day, we recognize the dignity, courage, strength, and resilience of refugees living in our communities. This year's theme, healthcare access for refugees, focused on community education and conversations around how to support the refugee community as they navigate losses in Medicaid and FoodShare in the coming months.

Thank you to Stevens Point Mayor, Mike Wiza; Portage County Executive, Eric Olson; and Chief of Police Edward Orgon at the Stevens Point Police Department for providing opening remarks and the World Refugee Day proclamation.

ECDC-MCC was honored to attend Wisconsin's World Refugee Day Celebration in Madison, joining community leaders, advocates, service providers, and refugees from across the state to recognize the strength, resilience, and contributions of refugee communities.

World Refugee Day is an opportunity to celebrate the journeys of those who have rebuilt their lives in Wisconsin while also reflecting on the importance of welcome, inclusion, and opportunity. We are proud to stand alongside our partners in supporting refugees as they build new futures and enrich our communities through their talents, cultures, and experiences.

Thank you to Governor Tony Evers, Wisconsin Department of Children and Families and everyone involved in organizing this meaningful event. Together, we continue to create a Wisconsin where all people have the opportunity to thrive.

The ECDC Annual Gala is a moment to come together and celebrate the impact we’re making. As a local branch, we’re proud to be part to take part in this year's theme: “Celebrating Welcome.” It reflects what this work is all about: supporting refugees and immigrants and building community. It’s also a chance to connect with partners, donors, and people across the country who care about this mission.
