👋 ! It’s been awhile. Ive been wanting to post for awhile but couldnt find the right words until today-
So what’s on my mind….. 🤔 Last month it was one year ago that my small town community came together for a hurricane relief project and thats when Small Town Big Heart began. So many things have been going on in my mind as I reflect back to that project. It literally started with me staying up til 3am (ugly crying) 😭 watching tik toks/reels about real people’s devastation to waking up in the morning and feeling I needed to do something to help these people. I took action… if i could “build it, they would come”. So thats just what I did. 💜 In 3 days with all community donations from my small town, my amazing group of family and friends, we were able to fill an entire semi full of goods helping families in North Carolina. Life changing! God is good! Since then I constantly have ideas in my head of how to help. My faith has become brighter than ever. ☀️
In recent mornings as I scroll thru Facebook reels drinking my ☕️(you know facebook uses some weird algorithm to show reels of things we find interest in through our clicks, searches…)Recently the reels that come up are of people who have a skill, take that skill to help and bring people hope. Through crowdfunding, social media, donations exc… they are sometimes able to pull people out of some really tough spots in their lives. 🙏 And God is the main focus to all of it. One of the girls that I spiraled out of control watching is in my comments. Her skill is photography. She feels a pull to talk to people, hear their testimonies and photograph them. Im assuming she started her project with just an idea, why cant I? So I’ve been feeling pulled to figure out what is my skill? What can I do to make a difference in someone’s life? I always want to jump to the big picture, but I have to remind myself “build it and they will come”.
I sit here and ponder… what is my skill? Well I think I’m a good listener, kind hearted , a giver, a good friend, mother, wife, daughter…. But what can I do to help people physically? 🤔
Being in the beauty industry and building my own business from scratch, I thought why not start with giving haircuts to homeless, low income situations. Start there- remembering “build it and they will come”. My mind then goes to a larger picture of being able to help these people who need “just a haircut” 💇♂️ then being able to provide them with basic goods, sometimes survival items, money, job leads, housing. All while talking about their own testimonies and being a person to listen and capture in video, with permission of course. All of this could be made possible by donations. Maybe they are just in a tough spot and I shall not judge. “Just a haircut” could turn into something so much bigger. Life changing really. Could lead to a successful job interview, a positive mind set, a good day at school, and possibly unbelievers into believers.
Serve one another through love- Galations 5:13.
So this is where my next project starts. 🥁 Welcome “Bringing Beauty to the Streets” -Build it and they will come.- If you feel pulled to give to this project, I have set up an Amazon shopping list to get things rolling, possibly to bring holiday blessings to people. I will also be starting a crowd funding page. Through social media, all will be documented. I know not everyone will be able to give monetary donations but prayers are always accepted! May God bless you. 🙏
