Took this from a friend but it rings so true for our ministry as well!
As part of our Haitian ministry, we are sometimes asked for help with people trying to flee the very REAL violence taking place in that country, and to apply for The Humanitarian Parole Program which might possibly allow them to be hosted by some family in The U.S. Notice the steps that are required, and especially the reasons given WHY these steps are required:
"Step 1: After determining that you may be eligible for Humanitarian Parole, you should next complete Form I-131, Application for Travel Document. Be sure to note that this application has a required filing fee which is to be submitted with this application.
Step 2: One should complete Form I-134, Affidavit of Support for the applicant. This Affidavit of Support indicates that the applicant will be financially supported by someone and thus NOT BECOME A PUBLIC CHARGE.
Step 3: A written statement/explanation detailing the humanitarian reason or emergency in which the application is based. Once the application is filed, a receipt notice is issued by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A response from USCIS should be received 120 days from the date USCIS received the application."
Draw your own conclusions about which of these steps have, or have NOT been followed over the past several years in the case of so many who have simply shown up at and then been allowed to cross our sovereign border...not to mention the consequences for our current American Citizens and tax payers.
FYI - The data shows that from January 1, 2020 to April 6, 2022, of the 288 Haitians who applied under this program, only 9 were "Conditionally Approved", 80 cases were either "Denied" or "Closed", while 199 were left in limbo and were still "Pending". Those are the results when very desperate would-be immigrants try to do things "The Right Way".
