💙 2026 H.O.P.E. Retreat — Refresh. Renew. Heal. 💙

Another incredible H.O.P.E. Retreat has come to a close at the beautiful Camp American Legion.

Over the course of the retreat, participants had an opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and focus on healing, renewal, and hope through the Five Pillars of Wellness.

Some moments were spent learning and reflecting during presentations. Others were spent fishing on the water, creating arts and crafts, sharing conversations around the campfire, enjoying the outdoors, or simply taking a much-needed moment to breathe.

That’s what makes H.O.P.E. so special.

Healing doesn’t always happen in a classroom or through a conversation. Sometimes it happens while sitting beside a lake. Sometimes it’s around a campfire with people who understand. Sometimes it’s discovering something new, laughing together, creating something with your hands, or simply realizing you’re not walking this journey alone.

Throughout the retreat, our Five Pillars provided opportunities to care for the whole person — mind, body, relationships, purpose, and spirit. Each activity, presentation, conversation, and quiet moment offered participants another opportunity to refresh, renew, reconnect, and heal.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made the 2026 H.O.P.E. Retreat possible — our participants, presenters, volunteers, supporters, and the wonderful people at Camp American Legion.

Participants may have arrived as individuals, but we leave reminded of the power of connection, community, and H.O.P.E.

Journey to the Light Ministries is honored to announce that we will be participating in the upcoming Veteran & Community Resource Expo on Thursday October 22nd, 2026 from 2:00pm until 6:00pm at the Fond du Lac County Fair Grounds Expo Center.

This event is free for Veterans and their families.

The event is designed to connect you with essential support, opportunities, and community fellowship.

Stop by the Journey to the Light Ministries booth to learn about the services and support we can provide.

In addition to support services, there will be employers present actively recruiting, free professional employee headshots for job seekers, and so much more.

🇺🇸 MEET THE RETREAT COMMITTEE | MARK FLOWER

Meet Mark Flower, co-founder of Dryhootch of America and a member of our HOPE Retreat Committee!

Mark was involved in the day-to-day operations of Dryhootch at the executive level, while also continuing to work directly with veterans as a peer mentor and alongside his own mentors.

A veteran of the Vietnam and Cold War era, Mark joined the Army in 1976 and served on active duty with the 25th Infantry Division through 1980. From 1981 to 2006, he continued serving with the 84th Training Division and the 452nd Combat Support Hospital in Milwaukee, serving as a Tank Commander, Instructor/Evaluator, Field Sanitation NCO, and Medic.

Mark also has a powerful story of recovery. After struggling with alcoholism and drugs, he began his recovery journey in September 1993 and has remained substance-free ever since. He has used his experience to help others on their own journeys, managing halfway houses and transitional living facilities, including Manitoba House and Sal’s House, as well as the Alano Foundation.

We’re grateful to have Mark’s experience, perspective, and passion for helping fellow veterans as part of this year’s HOPE Retreat Committee. 🇺🇸
