It's been a busy spring for Waunakee Rotary — and we wouldn't have it any other way! 🌿✨

One of our favorite spring traditions: Rotary members rolling up their sleeves for the Spring Clean Up at the Village Hall. Because Service Above Self isn't just a motto — it's something we live out in our community every chance we get.

It's been a busy spring of inspiring speakers at Waunakee Rotary — and this one has stayed with us. 🏠

Back in March, Kayla Lalande introduced us to Next Day Access South Central Wisconsin — a local business she and her husband Josh launched to help individuals with mobility challenges remain safely in their own homes.

From ramps and stair lifts to grab bars and elevators, Kayla offers free in-home assessments and quotes, and Josh handles installation fast — so there's no gap between hospital discharge and getting home safely. They also rent equipment for temporary needs.

It's the kind of local, community-minded business we love to celebrate. 💛

The future is bright — and we helped fund it. 🎓💛

At our June 4 meeting, we were honored to celebrate the four recipients of the Waunakee Rotary Foundation Service to Humanity Scholarships: Alainna Reefe, Andrew Berger, Hayden Janus, and Adrian Lopez-Mateus.

Each of these remarkable young people shared their stories of service and bold plans for the future — from medicine and political science to engineering and public service. They've already accomplished so much: international mission trips, cancer research, launching an Interact Club from scratch, volunteering globally, and more.

Waunakee Rotary couldn't be prouder. Congratulations, Alainna, Andrew, Hayden, and Adrian — go change the world! 🌍

This is what Rotary is all about: building community, building leaders, Service Above Self.

Eight students as Delegates, one current student as a Junior Counselor and one former student as a Counselor spent from Waunakee Community School District spent this past weekend in the woods by the Dells at RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards). RYLA is an annual event hosted by Rotary District 6250 to help develop future leaders through team-building, service projects, and networking.

For three days, these amazing students stretched out of their comfort zone to connect with kids and Rotarians from across Wisconsin to engage in team-building activities, participate in service projects, and build lasting connection.

Keith Poulsen, the Director of the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, spoke about the outlook for agriculture and food prices at the April 23 Waunakee Rotary meeting. An expert on large animals, Poulsen focuses on infectious diseases.

He has a wealth of information and spoke about topics from how current world events are affecting agriculture (and our food supply and prices) to the infectious diseases they are watching most closely at the moment.

We are grateful that Keith and his team at WVDL do the unseen work they do in keeping our food supplies safe - something we rarely think about here in Wisconsin when we're at the store or market.
