The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) is the world’s largest flying museum. For more than 60 years, the CAF has been dedicated to Honoring American Military Aviation through flight, exhibition, education and remembrance. Fulfilling its mission, the organization maintains airplanes in flying condition- taking airplanes to the people to experience first-hand the sights and sounds of aircraft in flight.

The CAF is a non-profit educational association with more than 11,000 members and a fleet of 165 airplanes distributed throughout America. The Commemorative Air Force Wisconsin Wing, based at the Waukesha County Airport, operates a Fairchild PT-26 primary trainer, a North American Aviation SNJ-5 advanced trainer and a Beechcraft T-34 Mentor. Members of the Wisconsin Wing engage with the CAF mission to protect these rare flying monuments to freedom for future generations through preservation, education, exhibition and airshows.

We had 50 aviation/engineering students tour Skycom (avionics), Planesafe (A&P aircraft maintenance), the control tower, a private general aviation hanger, and learning about homebuilt aircraft and drones. The students were exposed to many aviation careers. Thanks to CAF Cols George Crawford, Larry McClellan, and Tom Leunig for participating in this exciting educational event.
