Incredible stories of resilience and faith through music await you.
Anita Lasker Wallfisch’s story begins in the shadows of history, as a teenage cellist deported to Auschwitz in 1943. Branded with a number on her arm, she might have been lost among millions, but when an SS officer asked her profession, her answer saved her life. 🎻
She played in the Women’s Orchestra of Auschwitz, where her cello skills spared her from selection and extermination. For nearly a year, Anita performed in unimaginable conditions of starvation, sickness, and fear.
After liberation, she rebuilt her life in London, co-founded the English Chamber Orchestra, and became one of the last surviving members of Auschwitz’s women’s orchestra.
Her story now lives on through Violins of Hope, a testament to survival, resilience, and the power of music to speak when words cannot. 💛
