This weekend was the annual Jamboree on the Air/Jamboree over the Internet event and the Potawatomi Area Council talked to Scouts and Scouters all over the Country! Unfortunately, atmospheric conditions didn't allow us to talk to people around the World, but that didn't stop us from having a great time. Thank you to Matt Wagner, Darrell Kohlmann and Jeremy Beyerlein for running the event and teaching Scouts the ins and outs of Amateur Radio! We had snacks from around the World and seemed the tacos and chips and salsa were the most popular. We still have seconds available on the Wasabi Sea W**d crisps! This was the first of many fun events the International Committee on Scouting has planned for this year. Want to learn more, or what's next? Remember Scouts and Scouters, this Saturday is Jamboree on the Air/Jamboree over the Internet! From 10am-1pm we will host a radio at the Council Office for you to talk to Scouts from around the country and possibly the world! Come learn more about what International Scouting has to offer, including some possible activities that we can attend and learn about other cultures. We will be in the Training Room and you can use the rear entrance. Come ready to try snacks from around the world as we have some fun International Foods as well. Where in the Council was Rachel last night? I was able to attend two hikes last night with two Packs. First hike was with Pack 196 on the Scuppernong Trail and the second was with Pack 99 and Troop 99 on the Nature Hill Trail. Both were absolutely great hikes with prefect fall weather.

We are very excited to announce the International Committee is back at the Potawatomi Area Council! They will be kicking off their year with hosting an event at the Council Office next Saturday, October 17th. Join us for the annual JOTA (Jamboree on the Air)/ JOTI (Jamboree on the Internet). This event will run from 10am-1pm and you talk to Scouts from around the world. Maybe you'll talk to someone from Cairo, Illinois or Cairo, Egypt! And we are super excited to announce that the first 10 Scouts who reach out can earn their Radio Merit Badge! The MB will run from 10am-3pm and is being offered at no cost! Scouts should bring their own lunch. We will be having some multicultural snacks to try as well. You do need to RSVP to Chad (see the flyer) so don't hesitate.
