When your calling in life demands everything from you, take comfort in this – your entrance into eternity doesn’t depend on your performance, but on the One who already secured it for you.

On Friday, Chaplain Horn had a meeting at the Pentagon with Chaplain Wake, Executive Director of the Armed Forces Chaplain Board and his successor, Chaplain Meeker. They discussed the mission of WELS Ministry to the Military, the history of WELS and the military chaplaincy and ways our church body can better serve the spiritual needs of those who serve in our nation’s armed forces.

Wear purple on Wednesday!

Wednesday, April 15, 2026 is Purple Up! day, a way to show support and thank the sacrifice made by military children. Purple symbolizes the combined colors of the branches of our military. The dandelion is used to represent military children because of its ability to bloom and put down roots anywhere.

And would you say this prayer tomorrow?

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the children of military families, especially in this Month of the Military Child. You see their sacrifices—the moves, the separations, the uncertainty—and you sustain them with quiet strength. Bless them with resilience, courage, and peace that comes from your promises. Guard their hearts when they miss loved ones and surround them with faithful friends and caring communities. Remind them that you are always near, their unchanging refuge. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
