Coming in at 𝗡𝗨𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥 #𝟭𝟵 is 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘀 “𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲” 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗮.

Millie has spent years working in rooms where government, education and politics meet.

At one point she was Chief of Staff to 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗖𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵𝗮𝗺, one of Hudson County’s most powerful voices in Trenton. That alone put Millie close to major legislative, political and community decisions.

Then came NJCU, where she served as Chief of Staff during one of the most difficult periods in the university’s history.

Now she begins another chapter at Kean Jersey City as Deputy Chief of Staff for Regional Affairs.

What I like about Millie’s story is she has never needed the spotlight. She has built her career by being trusted in important rooms, working behind the scenes and knowing how institutions and government actually move.

Boys to Leaders was honored to nominate Jaden for this opportunity and see him gain valuable experience while continuing his journey at Michigan State University.

We also want to recognize Jaden’s mother, Kim Ruiz, for her continued support and encouragement throughout his journey. ❤️

From earning a 1.0 GPA during his freshman year to becoming a nationally recognized social worker, educator, entrepreneur, author and TEDx speaker, alumnus Kenneth L. Bourne Jr., LSW knows firsthand that a difficult beginning does not have to determine the ending.

After struggling to find a sense of belonging in college, Bourne found encouragement, opportunity and a new sense of possibility at Rutgers. Today, through Bourne Anew, he helps organizations rethink the systems and environments that shape behavior, well-being and belonging.

His message is powerful: “It doesn't matter how you start. It matters how you start over.”
