Did you know Waukegan will have its very own environmental film festival next weekend?
The inaugural Little Fort Environmental Films Festival is coming to Waukegan on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, bringing award-winning films from around the world that explore our relationship with water, land, wildlife, and the communities that depend on them.
One film that hits especially close to home is "Sharing Our Shores," featuring the work of the Lake County Audubon Society and the endangered Piping Plovers that nest along our own Lake Michigan shoreline. It's a chance to learn more about one of Waukegan's most remarkable natural treasures and the people working to protect it.
With screenings and events taking place at Three Brothers Theatre, the Waukegan Public Library, and the Waukegan Historical Museum at the Carnegie, this new festival highlights both the beauty of our environment and the power of storytelling to inspire action.
