Thank you to KADI - Knock and Drop Iowa and the Polk County North Side Food Pantry for welcoming us and hosting preventive health screenings for the community. We are grateful for your partnership and for creating a trusted space where individuals and families can access health information, basic screenings, and connections to resources.

Preventive screenings for cardiovascular disease and diabetes are so important because they can help identify high blood pressure, elevated blood sugar, and other risk factors early—often before symptoms appear. Early detection gives people the opportunity to seek follow-up care, make lifestyle changes, and prevent serious complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and vision loss.

L’ONG The River ARC vous invite à sa Foire de Santé Communautaire ce samedi 20 juin, de 10h à 16h. Aucune assurance n’est nécessaire, et tous les examens et services offerts seront gratuits.

MyHealthIowa will be offering free blood pressure readings, blood sugar screenings, and community-based resources on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at 3010 Sixth Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. These screenings are an important opportunity to support prevention, early detection, and connection to resources for families in our community. No appointment is needed — everyone is welcome!

Thank you to Mercado Latino de Iowa for continuing to host our biweekly community health screenings. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with you in bringing free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, health education, and community navigation support directly to families in a trusted and welcoming space.

As we recognize the importance of men’s health, we encourage men in our community to take time to check in on their health, complete routine screenings, and learn about ways to prevent chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. Early detection and prevention can make a meaningful difference for individuals, families, and the broader community.

A special thank you to our L.U.N.A (Latinas Unidas Por Un Nuevo Amanecer) and MHI volunteers for their time, compassion, and commitment to serving the community. Your support helps make these screenings possible and strengthens our shared work to improve health access for all.

Thank you to Lutheran Services in Iowa for hosting the weekly Global Green Market event at the Polk County Health Department space. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner in creating a welcoming space where community members can access fresh food, health education, and supportive resources.

We were honored to provide cardiovascular disease and diabetes screenings for immigrant and refugee communities. These screenings are an important way to support prevention, early identification, and connection to care, especially for communities that may experience language, transportation, insurance, and health care access barriers.

During the event, we had the opportunity to work with participants who speak Arabic, Swahili, and French. We are thankful for the opportunity to provide culturally responsive health education and screening services to such a diverse and vibrant community.

A special thank you to Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, L.U.N.A (Latinas Unidas Por Un Nuevo Amanecer), Drake University health science students and AmeriCorps volunteers for your collaboration and support. This work is possible because of strong community partnerships.

Together, we are helping strengthen access to prevention, education, and care for families across Polk County.

We are grateful for the opportunity to support AmeriCorps members as they continue building valuable skills to serve communities across Iowa. The training also created time for members to connect with one another, strengthen teamwork, and build morale.
