Our hope is in the promises of God/Espwa nou se nan pwomès Bondye yo

What promises of God guide your life? For apostle Paul, it is “in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time“ Titus 1:2. While salvation is our ultimate motivation from day to day, we also have immediate promise here and now that feeds our hope concerning our ultimate salvation. We need to hear God’s words daily to find those promises. When we face difficult questions and circumstances in our daily lives, we should look for God’s promises in his word. God does not lie, nor can he lie. We can take him at his word.
What does God say about our need for safety, food, children, and house, for our needs here and now? He will take care of us and never forsake us. Our hope is in his promise of eternal life, also tied to our confidence that he will take care of us now. Thus, It is one worth fighting and suffering with dignity for. “Acts 26:6. And now it is because of my hope in what God has promised our ancestors that I am on trial today.” Paul is imprisoned because he held on and preached the promise of eternal life.

Li ap pran swen nou epi li p'ap janm abandone nou. Espwa nou an se nan pwomès lavi etènèl li a, ki mare tou ak konfyans nou ke li ap pran swen nou kounye a. Kidonk, Li vo pou nou goumen e soufri ak diyite pou li “Travay 26:6. “Kounyeya, yo rele m an jijman paske m'ap tann pwomès Bondye te fè zansèt nou yo.” Pòl te nan devan jij paske li te kenbe e preche pwomès lavi etènèl la.

Meet Wisly Sertilus

I had the opportunity to meet Wisly’s father. He is a great father and a husband. Wisly is correct to say, “My parent work hard.” His parent works on the farm. They both have very little education, so they want to make sure Wisly and their three other children have a good education.
Wisly is one of the originals and undoubtedly the most intelligent kid in the group. He is funny and has a great sense of humor. He is playful with others and very protective of his younger siblings.
When I asked Wisly who had influenced his life the most, he told me one of his aunts, Silamène Georges, also had the highest education. Wisly love to cook rice. Soccer and playing dominos with his friends are his favorite hobbies. I had the opportunity to play soccer and even cook rice with Wisly in the woods. He is a fine young man. He accepted Jesus as his savior when he was fifteen years old. “My greatest hope is God,” he concluded. His favorite Bible verse is Psalms 23. It is a privilege that God will use people like you and me to make a lasting difference in Wisly’s life. Wisly is currently not sponsored for next year. His school is $ 4 a month or $47 a year. With a paid education, Wisly has hope for a better tomorrow.

Our hope in Christ is eternal/Espwa nou nan Christ se yon bagay etènel

Josef Pieper said, "Hope, like love, is one of the very simple, primordial dispositions of the living person." A man with no hope is not alive. While the unbelievers constantly search for hope, when they find one, it lasts for a second, and then they are on the hunt for it again; we who believe in Christ have a solid and settled hope. Corinthians 15:19 reminds us of that when it states, "If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied." Our hope in Christ is eternal living hope as Christ lives eternally.

Our hope begins and ends in Christ 1 Timothy 1:1. It is the foundation of everything we do and believe. Our hope in Christ goes beyond this life and all its present blessings. This hope is the voice that keeps telling us, "Our troubles are for a fleeting moment." Christ's resurrection is the essence of our hope; without it, we are to be pitied. Where Christ is there, we have hope to be. This hope is our anchor in present suffering. The faith in the resurrection is fundamental to our hope. On this hope, we sit as we silently bear our troubles, and the world looks at us and says, "What is it about Christians that they live as if everything has already worked out for them and that they have no fear." It is the hope I see in the eyes of the children in my village. We thank you for making it possible for us to continue reminding them of this hope.

Espwa nou komanse e fini ak Kris Timote 1:1. Espwa sa a se fòs nou nan soufrans nou ye jodi an. Lafwa nan rezirèksyon Kris la se asirans nou. Se sou espwa sa a nou chita, ki fè nou konfronte problèm nou yo an silans, e mond lan gade nou epi yo di: “Ki sa ki genyen nan kretyen yo konsa, ki koz yo viv tankou tout bagay deja regle pou yo san perèz?.” Se espwa mwen wè nan sousi timoun nan vilaj mwen an. Nou remèsye w dèske w fèl posib poun kontinye raple yo espwa sa a.

Meet Farah Alexis

I met Farah Alexis in 2011, when she was seven years old, in a group of seven other kids, which I call the originals. Though I had dreamed of impacting my village since middle school and had no doubt God would use me someday, that day, seeing Farah and her other friends that summer, I knew it was a divine connection. The whole group followed me everywhere I went that week in the village. I spent that week walking with them around the village and praying that God would open the door to start an orphanage in the town. I felt a deep love and compassion from those children I never felt before. I love them with my whole heart. Right there, I saw my life with them.

I recently reconnected with Farah, and she told me a funny story about how her mother gave birth to her in a Haitian-built toilet. Her mom thought she had to use the bathroom. Instead, she was in child labor. Her mother passed away when Farah was a child, and she doesn’t remember much of her, but the story of her birth reminds her of her mom. She is close to her dad. Her father works on the farm and fishing to provide for her and her three older brothers. I admire her effort and her love for others.

We started paying Farah school in 2012 with $40 a year. This was the beginning of God’s direction for our vision for the village. We hoped that God would continue using us in Farah’s life. MGM agreed to help Farah with her education to create a better tomorrow. Supporting one child at a time is a considerable way to educate and deliver Haiti out of poverty. Farah is now 19 years old. She goes to school in the city, and her education costs $223. She enjoys playing Mayél with her best friend, Chrisla, who was also part of the original group.

While in Haiti two years ago, Farah would bring me food on Sunday after services. Her act of kindness stirred my heart. She told me, “I am growing in the gospel. My greatest hope is Jesus and no one else.” Her favorite verse is John 3:16. You can change the world by changing one child’s life, starting with her education.
