ity of Watts where it receives negative imagery over being a positive outlook upon life in the "ghetto". With all the issues that are going on in the world today we find the most complications in are urban cities across nation, which consist of gang violence, racism, police discrimination on all nationalities unnecessary riots etc and not realizing what the damage is doing to our youth,somehow we manage to forget as a human being we bleed one color! P.O.E.T.S Ink are motivational leaders who encourage youth and community to make better decisions in life through spoken word poetry and floetry rap to catch peoples attention and making them aware of the problems of society so we can make a change for the better. Poetry: An imaginative awareness of experiences expressed through meaning, sound and rhythmic language choices to draw forth emotional responses, memories, feelings etc. Objective : To enlighten the community adults but also our youth about the realities and facts of life as we view it, so that they can make better decisions in life through our spoken word and floetry rap. Also to help today’s youth become the leaders of tomorrow. They are the future.
~We strive to make a positive impact on young adults to make better choices in life.
~We gather frequently on a monthly basis to meet and discuss our plans of development to encourage our communities.
~Our meetings include individually expressing our uniqueness in poetry and music and how it emotionally connects us to each other.
~We encourage literacy through poetry and music for young adults by taking advantage of the English language because words have a powerful impact.
~We hope to inspire thoughts of peaceful reasoning and resolutions for sound choices and decisions we will face in our lifetime.
~We are diversified in many ways but are a unified group of poets that want to raise public awareness through our elements and artistry. We would love to collaborate with your program to make a difference within the youth. We cater to all themes for service, but our group would empower youth mentally physically and intellectually to believe in their talent. In the process of enrichment we are teaching valuable lessons, in what elements and components ofpoetry consist of. We want to have them delve deeper within and realize poetry is more than just words; it’s an artistry that can have a great mind effect on and for youth of today in a positive direction.
