Much thanks to and our friend for this wonderful article about our super special visit from punk and reggae legend HR from Bad Brains! It was an amazing visit full of stories and good vibes. The kids (and adults) loved it! We plan to have many more special events like this, as well as our ongoing FREE music lessons to the community of Watts. Summer hours are starting soon. Make sure to follow us and also visit our website (link in bio) We also welcome donations to sustain our program, and you can find the donate button on our website.

Last week we were recognized by our host school Verbum Dei Jesuit High School with the Friend and Companion Award. We are deeply grateful for this recognition in our mutual work of giving back to the community. Thank you to all of the faculty, staff, and students for welcoming us with open arms onto your campus, and thank you to all of our wonderful instructors. Present to receive the reward was David Moss (co-founder) Norwood Fisher (co-founder and bassist/co-founder of Fishbone) Bobby Easton (director) Stephen Perkins (board member and drummer of Janeโ€™s Addiction) and Fernando Pullum (board member and founder of Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center) We are so proud of the growth we have witnessed with all of the students, both from Verbum Dei and from within the community. Hereโ€™s to much more giving back and positive growth!

Thursday May 14 4pm We showed some videos of Bad Brains to the kids to warm them up for his visit. Hereโ€™s some historic photos and a video from 3/20/87 from Florida Spring Break (in the comments section). H.R. and Bad Brains have been a massively influential part of our culture and deeply meaningful to countless modern bands and artists that you know and love. We are excited to share space with HR.
