🌱 The newest Community Garden in Watsonville is officially open!

Last week, we celebrated the grand opening of the Flodberg Park Community Garden with community members, volunteers, partners, and supporters who helped bring this space to life. 🎉

The day was full of hands-on learning and community connection. We were joined by the City of Watsonville - City Gov't, UC Master Gardener Program, and a CHT Registered Dietitian, all sharing resources, tips, and knowledge to support healthy growing and healthy living. 🌿🍽️

As CHT’s 4th Community Garden, Flodberg Park creates a new space for neighbors to grow their own food, learn new skills, and connect close to home. 🌱

This garden was made possible through the dedication and hard work of our amazing volunteers - California Giant Berry Farms, Granite Construction, FoodWhat, BSA Troop505b, and K&D Landscaping, Inc. We’re so grateful for the time and care you poured into bringing this garden to life 💚

We are excited to introduce and welcome Antonio “Tony” Garcia Peña, CHT’s Development Associate! 🎉

Get to know Tony below:
"I was born in Zamora, Michoacán, and immigrated to Salinas at the age of 14. My journey has given me a deep appreciation for community, resilience, and the importance of access to opportunities. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Collaborative Health and Human Services with a concentration in Social Work from Cal State Monterey Bay. With a passion for helping others, I have built a career that combines leadership, community engagement, and youth development. I am committed to supporting individuals and families by connecting them with resources, fostering growth, and creating positive change within the community I serve."

We are excited to have Tony on the CHT team and look forward to the impact he will make in our community. Please join us in giving him a warm welcome! 💙💛

🎉 Investing in the future, one student at a time. 🎓

We’re proud to invest in the next generation of health and human service professionals with a total of $76,200 in scholarships awarded this year.

Through the Dr. Ehler H. Eiskamp Endowed Scholarship Fund, in partnership with the Cabrillo College Foundation, $46,200 was awarded to students in Cabrillo College’s Allied Health Program.

An additional $30,000 was awarded to Pajaro Valley Unified School District students from:
Watsonville High School
Pajaro Valley High School
Aptos High School
Renaissance High School
Watsonville/Aptos Adult Education

Congratulations to this year’s recipients! 👏🎉 We wish you continued success in your academic journey and future careers. 💙
