Its been a while since we had a scout age out. But this one hits hard. Today is Kristina's 18th birthday. She is the youngest in her family and the only girl. Her 3 older brothers were in the boys troop. One day hearing that the scouts were letting girl's in she asked if she could join. At the time the troops had to be separate and it took a while, but she rounded up some more girls and started Troop 2558 Girls BSA Watsonville . We eventually blended the troops together and little by little the other girls moved, or dropped out but she still stuck with it. Eventually taking over as SPL these past few years .
It has been remarkable watching her grow from the spunky young girl tagging along to the remarkable young woman leader she is now. Look back at her scout career and take a look at her infectious smile (when she is not hiding/covering her face while laughing!)
One of my proudest moments was watching her run the flag ceremony this past week at the Skillicorn BBQ knowing it would be her last scout event comparing it to her dressing up and joining her brothers in a flag ceremony even before we officially started her troop!
On a personal note, I will miss her whole family. From her Mother, ever present helping at fundraisers and events, and the occasional campout, to her Father and his boat and sense of humor, to her 3 older brothers who came through the troop before her.
