Today is .
On April 9, 1942, U.S forces fighting on the Bataan Peninsula surrendered to the Japanese. Following their surrender, thousands of American and Filipino soldiers were forced on the Bataan Death March, a brutal 65-mile march to a prison camp, where many died due to harsh conditions and mistreatment.
Today, we honor all those who sacrificed so much in service to this nation, including their own freedom. Also in our thoughts are their families, who sacrificed waiting for their return.

Department of ND Commander Mike Weyrauch presented a 80 year continuous American Legion Membership certificate to 109 year old Raymond Curtis of Minot. Has was presented an 80 year pin from Minot Post Commander Millo Wallace and a beautiful quilt from District 6 Commander Kathryn White Bear.
