The Woody Strobeck quartet joined us in June, bringing their New Orleans-inspired brass and blues right to our founders room! Led by retired music teacher Woody, the group played a variety of toe-tapping tunes so infectious that some of our residents couldn't help but to get up and dance!

It's the start of a new month, and that means our gallery wall in Doane Brook has a new featured artist! This month's exhibit is a beautiful collection by resident Paula White.

Paula's lifelong love of embroidery began when she was just 10 years old after her mother introduced her to the craft. Over the years, she created countless pieces in thread, often giving her finished works away to family and friends. This special exhibit also includes pieces made by her mother, honoring the woman who first inspired her creative journey.

Be sure to stop by the gallery wall this month and enjoy this heartfelt display of artistry and cherished memories!

Happy Independence Day from Shaker Pointe at Carondelet!

One of our most cherished Fourth of July traditions returned this year as residents Pat Carr and her daughters, Cathy Musick and Laurie Musick-Wright, led our annual community reading of the Declaration of Independence.

Residents took turns reading passages from this historic document, honoring the words that helped shape our nation nearly 250 years ago. The celebration continued with a spirited sing-along of patriotic favorites, accompanied on the piano by resident Ann Krupski, before concluding with a festive champagne toast.

Thank you to Pat and her family for continuing this meaningful tradition and helping us celebrate America's independence through history, music, and community. Wishing everyone a safe and joyful Fourth of July!

Earlier this week, residents welcomed Rick Reynolds, official historian for the Town of Ballston, for an engaging presentation, "America at 250," exploring our nation's remarkable journey as we approach the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

From pivotal moments in our country's history to reflections on how the past continues to shape the present, Rick's presentation sparked thoughtful conversation and provided a fascinating look at the story of America.

A heartfelt thank you to Rick Reynolds for sharing his knowledge and helping us celebrate the rich history of our nation as we look ahead to this historic milestone!

Looks like we have another case of accidental coordination!

Our Director of Fitness, Joelle Ceneviva, and resident Art Phelan showed up today sporting nearly identical red-and-blue outfits, proving once again that great minds (and great wardrobes) think alike.

The matching colors may have been a coincidence, but the commitment to staying active certainly isn't. Thanks to Joelle for helping our residents stay strong, healthy, and smiling every step of the way!
