A short notice visit from the Mayor of Bucha, Ukraine, Anatoliy Fedoruk. We were very honored to receive him and UkraineFriends CEO, Brock Bierman. The City of Albany, NY and Bucha, Ukraine receive sister city designation.

Also: A coin made from all the Russian bullets that destroyed the city and so many innocent lives of men, women and children.

An incredible event in the world of Ukrainian culture: a Ukrainian film is nominated for an Oscar for the first time in history!

"A House Made of Splinters" documentary made it into the top 5 films of the year in the category "Best Documentary," according to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Ukraine has submitted films for this award more than ten times, but for the first time, a Ukrainian film is among the nominees.

"A House Made of Splinters" depicts Ukrainian children who live in a shelter near the front line and social workers who try to create a safe space for children.

The film has already won at the Greek Thessaloniki International Film Festival and the Gothenburg Film Festival in Sweden.

Thanks to the director and cameraman, Simon Lereng Vilmont, and the entire crew!

The 95th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 12, 2023, in Los Angeles. We're keeping our fingers crossed that "A House Made of Splinters" will take the honorable first place!

Неймовірна подія в світі української культури: вперше в історії українську кінострічку номінували на "Оскар"!

Документальна робота “Будинок зі скалок” була обрана з понад 100 заявок і потрапила в топ-5 фільмів року в категорії “Найкращий документальний фільм” за версією Американської кіноакадемії. Україна більш як 10 разів подавала фільми на цю премію, але вперше вдалося потрапити у список номінантів

У "Будинку зі скалок" йдеться про українських дітей, які живуть у притулку, розташованому поруч із лінією фронту та про соціальних працівників, які намагаються створити безпечний простір для дітей.

Стрічка вже відзначилася перемогами на грецькому кінофестивалі Thessaloniki International Film Festival та у документальному конкурсі Ґетеборзького кінофестивалю у Швеції.

Дякуємо режисеру, Саймону Леренгу Вільмонту, який став і оператором фільму, і всій команді, хто працював над цим важливим проєктом.

95-а церемонія вручення премії Американської кіноакадемії відбудеться вже 12 березня 2023 року в Лос-Анджелісі. Тримаємо кулаки, щоб "Будинок зі скалок" здобув почесне перше місце!
