Over the past few weeks, we have felt an outpouring of love and support from our community in remembrance of a man who played such an important role in helping make the Watertown Area Foster Closet what it is today.
Ron Schneider is a name that so many people in our community know and hold close to their hearts. To our organization, Ron was also the father of one of our board members, Alyssa Schneider, a constant source of encouragement, and someone whose generosity continues to impact us even now.
When the Watertown Area Foster Closet was just beginning, Ron and his wife, Margaret Schneider, graciously donated a full year of rent at a time when we had not more than a dream and a mission. Their belief in us helped lay the foundation for everything we have become.
The Schneider Family also chose the Watertown Area Foster Closet as one of the ways people could honor Ron’s memory. Through that, we have witnessed firsthand just how deeply loved and respected he was. Ron had a special way of making every child feel welcome—we know a list of kiddos that got to have Grandpa Ron in their corner.
We are forever grateful for Ron’s kindness, generosity, and the legacy he leaves behind as the man many knew as the “grandpa to all.”
To the Schneider Family, thank you for sharing Ron with all of us and for continuing to support our mission. He will always hold a special place in our hearts.
