Fellow Grangers,
What an exciting opportunity we have as an organization to partner with the premier youth leadership organization for students enrolled in agriculture - The FFA. From May 7-9, 2025 the NYS FFA will hold their 100th State FFA Convention at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY. We have decided to partner with them and support their efforts and build a strong connection between the two organizations.
The NYS Grange will support the FFA’s efforts with the Community Service Projects during their state FFA Convention May 7-9. The theme of the partnership is FFA - Days of Service - Powered by New York State Grange. In our efforts to “Power” their Days of Service we have offered to provide adults to act as chaperones for these events which will be held in conjunction with their convention.
What we need from our Grangers!!!! We are looking for at least 6 Grangers (2 per time slot per activity) that can volunteer to attend part of the NYS FFA Convention and help facilitate/chaperone the Days of Service activities. You won't be required to perform the activity, but provide guidance, supervision and have an opportunity to interact with FFA members while they complete the project. We are excited to connect students with Grange members and build a relationship and notoriety as a Premier Community Service Organization.
The following are the actual time slots and activities that need volunteers. Lunch will be provided for those who can attend. Please email me at [email protected] or by calling 315-778-6712 so we can fill our schedule. You should plan to meet State Grange President Sandra Green at the Expo Center at least 30 minutes before the scheduled activity. Sandra will have some Grange buttons/stickers to identify our volunteers and then we can get organized before students arrive.
Service time frames:
Wednesday, May 7 - 1:30 - 3:00 pm (volunteer meet at 1, students at 1:15)
Wednesday, May 7, 3 - 4:30 pm (volunteer meet at 2:30, students at 2:45)
Thursday, May 8 - 1 -2:30 pm (volunteer meet at 12:30, students at 12:45)
Activities in each block:
Veterans Memorial Clean Up/Upkeep (10 students, 1-2 adults)
Voice of the Farmer Garden Maintenance & Prep (15 students, 1-2 adults)
Picnic table refresh (Literally up to 4-500 students - all extra volunteers)
In addition to these there is a need for helping during meals directing participants to meal lines for Wednesday Dinner and Thursday Lunch – let me know if you can stay or come early to assist with these.
