We amplify Mental Health Awareness Month with compassion and love. This awareness provides education about the reality of the numbers of people living with a mental health condition. While it can make life more difficult, it doesn't have to stop someone from having a fulfilling life.

While Mental Health Awareness Month was first recognized in May of 1949, it has never been more important than now to recognize the role mental health plays in our overall well-being and the need for helping those in need receive treatment. It was created as a way to educate the public about mental illness, raise awareness surrounding research and treatments, reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, and celebrate recovery from mental illness. Because of misconceptions and stigma surrounding mental health issues, people often suffer in silence and don’t seek treatment for their conditions. Please seek support and treatment if you are in need! You matter and are loved.

48 million have an anxiety disorder
21 million have major depression
9 million have post-traumatic stress disorder
7 million have bipolar disorder
3.5 million have borderline personality disorder

1.5 million have schizophrenia

We are always grateful for opportunities to learn, grow, network, and be inspired! Here are some of our management staff team earlier this week at the Association of Developmental Disabilities Providers (ADDP) 2026 LEAD Conference held to connect disability service providers, leaders, and advocates. The event focused on the future of disability and behavioral health services.

Repeating this important message on the last day of Autism Acceptance Month (even though we wish it was promoted was all year long) as it’s an opportunity to amplify the importance of us all deepening our understanding of this complex disorder.

Consider this helpful visualization for describing Autism Spectrum that we found being shared around the internet. Think of it not as linear but as a pie with sliders for each part. and that each diagnosis can look different. Most important, each pie represents a unique person welcomed and loved in our community/world! 💖

We proudly amplify and promote that April is “World Autism Acceptance Month” as we join neighbors around the globe taking intentional time to focus on fostering inclusion, breaking stigmas, and supporting autistic individuals. The 2026 campaign emphasizes moving from awareness to acceptance while strengthening advocacy for neurodiverse environments in education, workplaces, and daily life. Please join us.

We invited our wonderful followers on social media last week to vote for Beaverbrook STEP for a Watertown Savings Bank “Customer Choice Award” and we heard that the deadline has been extended to this Sunday night, so PLEASE vote for us if you haven’t yet! 🙏🤞💛

The local charitable organization with the most qualified votes submitted will be awarded a $15,000.00 donation. All remaining donations will be awarded to local charitable organizations in proportion to the number of votes submitted in amount(s) to be determined at the sole discretion of the Bank.
