My Happy Place Watertown

My Happy Place Watertown My Happy Place - Creating joyful spaces for the well-being of those with a serious health diagnosis. We simply call it, “my happy place”.

Who we are:
My Happy Place is a 501(c)3 organization comprised of passionate volunteers whose intention is to create healing environments for individuals who are struggling with a serious health issue. A “healing environment” is often defined as one that has a nurturing and therapeutic effect. For the person on a serious health journey, a healing environment can help to lower stress and anxiety, r

educe pain, accelerate recovery and promote a sense of well – being. My Happy Place does all that, and more. Often times, the news that the individual is going to have a “happy place” created for them, is the first good news they’ve received since their diagnosis. This gives them something to look forward to other than focusing on their illness. We work closely with the recipient to design and personalize the selected space at their home that will provide the most benefit. We will create a place that embodies soothing colors, cleanliness, sounds, scents and visual stimuli. We use specially curated items that will provide comfort, resulting in a new space that will help to strengthen their ability to cope and recover.

At My Happy Place, we truly could not do what we do without the incredible support of our local businesses.

Every room makeover we create for individuals facing serious health challenges is made possible through generous donations, discounted services, and a community that shows up in the most meaningful ways.

For Breanne’s bedroom makeover, Montgomery’s Furniture gave us a generous discount on a zero gravity bed — and the impact was immediate.

Breanne, who is living with metastatic cancer in her spine, shared this with us after her first night sleeping in her new space:

“I had the best night of sleep I’ve had in 3 years. Usually I feel like I was in a car accident when I wake up, but this morning, my back felt a lot less painful. Thanks for changing my life for the better.”

This is why community matters.
This is why local partnerships matter.
And this is why we are so grateful for businesses like Montgomery’s who help us bring comfort, peace, and relief to those who need it most.

Thank you for helping us make a difference, one room at a time. ✨

The moment you've all been waiting for.... THE REVEAL! 🩵💜

After months of dreaming, fundraising, and planning, My Happy Place was finally able to bring Breanne Mack’s bedroom makeover to life.

This project was never just about decorating a room. It was about creating a space where Breanne could find comfort, peace, and rest in the middle of the daily pain and uncertainty that comes with metastatic cancer.

Because of the incredible generosity of our community, Breanne’s bedroom was transformed into a warm and colorful midcentury boho retreat designed just for her. Every detail was chosen with love, but one of the most meaningful parts of the space was her zero-gravity bed from Montgomery's Furniture—a gift that will help ease her back pain and allow her to rest more comfortably.

We also had the honor of incorporating two deeply meaningful pieces into the room—Breanne’s great-grandparents’ vintage dresser and vanity, equipped with new glass and mirrors from Riddle's Glass. Including these treasured family heirlooms added so much heart, history, and personal meaning to the space, making it not only beautiful, but deeply comforting and uniquely hers.

A special thank you to Megan Olson of Curated, whose eye for design, unique vintage pieces, and constant encouragement helped bring so much personality and beauty into this room. Her creativity helped make this space feel truly one of a kind.

We are deeply grateful to every single donor, volunteer, supporter, and local business who gave their time, talents, resources, and hearts to make this project possible. It truly took a village to turn this vision into reality, and we could not have done it without each and every one of you.

We are incredibly grateful to the Hurkes sisters (Jenny, Kim, and Kristen) for their generous donation of a weekend at their beautiful Lake Kampeska property for Breanne and her family. While the My Happy Place team transformed Breanne’s bedroom into a peaceful and comforting space designed for rest and healing, the Mack family was able to step away and enjoy a much-needed weekend together.

Their two adorable fur babies got to come along as well and thoroughly enjoyed the open yard and breathtaking lake views, making the getaway even more special for the whole family.

To make the weekend even more meaningful, Jenny also provided delicious meals through her restaurant, Second Street Station, adding another thoughtful touch of care and generosity.

This is what community looks like—people using what they have to create moments of comfort, joy, and relief for a family walking through incredibly difficult circumstances. We are so thankful for every person and business who helped make this weekend such a gift for Breanne and her loved ones.

Thank you Jenny Kasuske, Kim Stricherz, and Kristen Hurkes for being a part of our mission!

Another beautiful act of kindness came from Liz Lloyd from LL Mood Spa in Watertown. She treated Breanne Mack to a relaxing facial along with a makeup and beauty consultation to help her feel extra special before her exciting room reveal.

In the middle of so much uncertainty, thoughtful moments like these can bring comfort, confidence, and joy. We are so grateful for the local businesses and caring hearts that came together to remind Breanne just how loved she is.

Thank you Liz for spending your Sunday afternoon pampering Breanne!! My Happy Place is so blessed to have people like you on mission with us!

This weekend, the Watertown community showed up in such a beautiful way to bless Breanne Mack.

She not only received a bedroom makeover, but was also surrounded by the love and generosity of local small businesses who wanted to make her feel truly special.

A heartfelt thank you to the amazing Michelle Wadsworth of AMJ, who made a special shopping outing possible just for Breanne, giving her the chance to choose an outfit that made her feel confident, beautiful, and seen.

Sometimes, in the middle of the uncertainty that comes with metastatic cancer, something as simple as kindness, a warm smile, and a caring community can bring a much-needed moment of joy. 💛

Cashway Lumber generously donated the carpet for Breanne's My Happy Place bedroom makeover, helping create a warm and comfortable space. When asked to help on this project, there was no hesitation from Jason Meester of Cashway or Chad Coleman the flooring installer, who both happen to know Breanne's husband from connections in the industry.

Then, in a sweet small-world moment, when the carpet was delivered, we discovered the delivery driver was actually a relative of the family. It was such a meaningful reminder of how a community can come together in unexpected ways to support a good cause.

Thank you CASHWAY LUMBER for helping with Breanne's project!

It's finally makeover weekend for Breanne Mack and the Watertown community is showing up with generosity and heart!

Riddle's Glass helped us bring new life to a treasured family heirloom by replacing the mirror in her antique vanity as part of her My Happy Place bedroom project. The vanity, which originally belonged to Breanne's great-grandparents, Bud and Wilma, holds deep sentimental value. Now it has a beautiful new mirror to match its timeless charm and compliment her midcentury themed bedroom design. The donated glass and mirror helped repair a meaningful piece of family history while making the newly transformed space feel even more special.

On behalf of My Happy Place, THANK YOU Riddles Glass!!

Cancer has spread to her spine, leaving her in constant pain. A zero gravity bed could dramatically reduce pressure and help Breanne finally rest comfortably.

Our nonprofit creates healing room makeovers for those battling serious illness — and we need your help to give her the comfort she deserves.

Montgomery's Furniture in Watertown has offered us a very generous discount, but we are still short on our fundraising goal.

Donate today and help us turn pain into peace. Every gift matters.

For Breanne Mack, rest is not something that comes easily. She is courageously battling stage 4 cancer while living with chronic pain from a spinal fusion and rib removal after her thyroid cancer spread to her bones. What should be a place of comfort and healing has instead become a place where pain lingers and exhaustion compounds day after day.

On particularly tough days, she climbs into bed with her two dogs by her side and tries to rest. Her bedroom should be a place for healing, but right now it doesn’t support the comfort her body so desperately needs. My Happy Place is raising funds to makeover her bedroom into a peaceful, supportive space that helps ease pain and allows her to truly rest.

Our nonprofit will transform her bedroom into a true healing space—one designed to reduce pain and stress, support her spine, and offer relaxation and comfort during the long hours she spends there.

A bedroom makeover may seem small in the face of a cancer diagnosis—but for someone living with constant pain, it is everything. It is the chance to sleep. To breathe. To gather strength for another day of fighting her cancer.

Your donation is more than a gift—it’s an act of LOVE. Join us this Valentine’s Day and surround Breanne with generosity to remind her that she is not walking this journey alone.
