Who doesn’t love walking under a tree canopy? 😍 Globally, 9 out of 10 people breathe bad air. But trees can help. Trees capture heavy metals like lead, iron, manganese, chromium, and barium, making it a little easier to breathe. 🌳

Teens had a wildly informative tree walk with local Peter Del Tredici, Ameritus of Boston’s Arnold Arboretum. Peter told us about the body language of trees, how to assess their health, risks to street trees including road salt and utility companies’ pruning messes. We learned that many invasive species are better equipped to deal with the changes of the urban environment and our current climate than natives, so they may do more good than harm! Larry and Carole, local nature photographers, introduced themselves to the teens... and we all soaked up Peter’s wealth of knowledge about local sequoias, paw paws, and Trees of Heaven. Thank you Peter
