ALS TDI

ALS TDI We have one mission. End ALS. We are the world's most comprehensive drug discovery lab focused solely on ALS.

As a nonprofit biotech, our cutting-edge research is fueled by the ALS community. Visit www.als.net to explore our impact and help fund cures. Since 1999, our team has grown from a family working in a basement to a team of over 30 full-time researchers. We are dedicated to discovering and inventing effective treatments to end ALS. We will not stop until there is a treatment for every person living with ALS.

Ever wondered what it looks like to be inside ALS research?

This is CorD2, a custom automated high-throughput cell screening platform at ALS TDI, affectionately named after Corey Reich, who has been living with ALS since 2007. Through the support of Corey's Crusade and the broader ALS community, tools like this help make ambitious research possible.

CorD2 combines an automated incubator, plate washer, microscope, and other integrated technologies to run complex experiments and screen potential therapies at a scale that would be difficult, if not impossible, to achieve by hand.

To give us a unique perspective, Amit Mishra, Associate Scientist II, Automation, designed and 3D-printed a custom GoPro mount and sent a camera through the system itself.

The result is a tour through one of the most advanced research tools in our lab and a rare glimpse at the technology helping our researchers evaluate potential ALS therapies every day.

Years of work happen before an ALS therapy ever reaches a clinical trial.

From target discovery and disease modeling to biomarker analysis and safety testing, researchers must answer critical questions before a potential therapy can move forward.

As ALS research continues to expand, so are we. ALS TDI is doubling our research team and building out a new 33,000 sq. ft. laboratory to help test more therapies and accelerate progress toward effective treatments.

Thank you for helping make this work possible.

Join us for our next ALS TDI Town Hall on June 18 at 3:00 PM ET.

We're excited to welcome David Meissner, Director of Your ALS Guide, for a first look at the new ALS Research Guide.

Designed to help people living with ALS and their families better understand research, clinical studies, and participation opportunities, this new resource aims to make navigating the research landscape more accessible and approachable.

Whether you're newly diagnosed, a caregiver, or simply interested in learning more about ALS research, we hope you'll join the conversation.

"There is still a lot of living to be done with the disease."

In a new blog, ALS 100 Chief Inspiration Officer Zach shares how living with ALS led him to the ALS 100 and why he's committed to raising awareness and funds for research.

Follow on Instagram and LinkedIn as we countdown to event day June 16th and get to know the people behind the mission and follow along as the ALS 100 takes on 100 holes of golf in just one day to raise funds and awareness for ALS research.

Today, we honor Lou Gehrig, whose legacy continues to inspire the fight against ALS.

As we remember Lou, we also recognize the progress made possible by researchers, participants, advocates, and supporters working toward a future without ALS.

For years, researchers have observed increased rates of ALS among certain populations, including elite athletes, military veterans, and first responders. What remains unclear is why.

Champion Insights was created to help answer that question. By studying individuals from populations at elevated risk, researchers are exploring how genetics, environment, lifestyle, and other factors may interact to influence ALS risk and progression.

As Steve Gleason shares in our recent Town Hall, understanding these connections is essential to moving beyond correlations and toward answers.

Learn more about Champion Insights and how this research could help advance our understanding of ALS by watching our recent Town Hall here: https://youtu.be/crtIacXXGO0?si=GJtnea28-QEfVHSb
