Global Day of Play 2026 | August 27
"How should we celebrate?"
This is one of the most common questions we receive from coaches and organizations.
The answer is simple.
There is no single way to celebrate the Global Day of Play.
Every community is different.
Every organization is different.
Every celebration is different.
You may simply create time and space for children and young people to play.
Some organizations may organize a large community event.
Some may deliver a Purposeful Play session at school.
Some may bring together families, coaches, and community members.
Others may use play to explore topics such as inclusion, wellbeing, climate action, or child rights.
You might even create a play session for your staff, volunteers, teachers, or community leaders.
After all, play is not only for children.
Play helps people connect, learn, laugh, reflect, and build stronger relationships at every age. It can create opportunities for learning, strengthen communities, and bring people together around shared experiences.
At CAC, we believe the most meaningful celebrations are those that reflect the needs, strengths, and ideas of the local community.
As a Purposeful Play for Development organization, we know that play can be much more than an activity. Through play, children, young people, and adults build relationships, develop confidence, strengthen life skills, explore new ideas, and learn together.
