Children couldn’t wait for the coaches to finish training before joining in the games.

That was one of the clearest reminders of why Purposeful Play matters.

This month in Punjab, India, CAC National Purposeful Play Coach Jaspreet Kaur facilitated a 4-day Onfield Coach Education Program with S. Sohan Singh Chokkar Education and Sports Academy.

As 16 local coaches explored CAC campaigns like Play Every Day and Climate through games, reflection, and group activities, something unexpected happened — children from the community began joining in simply because they were curious, excited, and drawn to the energy of play.

Before the training was even complete, play was already creating connection.

At CAC, we train hundreds of local coaches each year — equipping them with the skills, confidence, and knowledge to create safe, fun, and inclusive spaces where children can play, belong, and grow.

Because children shouldn’t have to wait for opportunities to play.

This is Purposeful Play in action:
Coach education → local leadership → community impact.

💬 “I really liked the Impairment Game. Previously, I excluded disabled people from activities, but now I include everyone. It changed my mindset.”
— Vincent Medisca

Sometimes, one conversation, one game, or one moment of reflection can completely shift the way we see others — and ourselves.

Throughout May, coaches across the CAC Global Network came together through online support calls to share experiences, challenges, ideas, and encouragement. From Kenya to India and beyond, these spaces reminded coaches that they are not working alone.

Local Purposeful Play Coaches spoke about the excitement of delivering games in their communities. Newly trained coaches grew more confident in leading sessions. Partner organizations explored CAC’s Climate campaign and how to bring it into their own learning spaces. In India, Himmotthan coaches asked for additional support to strengthen teacher training and continue growing their impact.

But beyond the curriculum and coaching tools, something deeper was happening:
Coaches were building relationships.
They were learning from one another.
They were feeling supported, connected, and mentored as part of a global community working toward positive change.

At CAC, coach education does not end after a workshop or training session. Ongoing mentorship and support are what help local leaders continue growing long after the first session ends.

Every year, CAC trains and mentors more than 5,000 coaches globally — because sustainable community impact begins with people who feel empowered, encouraged, and connected.

We’re proud to celebrate two respected leaders from the Coaches Across Continents (CAC) global network who have been invited as guest speakers at the Safe Sport 2026 Conference in South Africa.

Jonathan Hannay, founder and leader of ACER Brasil — a CAC accredited organisation and valued partner since 2014 — and Elvis Nshimba, founder and leader of Umoja Sport Foundation DRC and a committed member of the CAC coaching network for over a decade, continue to lead by example in the global safeguarding landscape.

Their participation at this important international conference reflects the strength and diversity of the CAC community. Across our network, leaders from different countries, cultures, and disciplines come together to share knowledge, support one another, and champion best practice in areas such as child safeguarding, safe sport, and inclusive community leadership.

What makes the CAC network special is that it is not just a programme — it is a global community of practitioners and role models who learn from one another daily. Through ongoing collaboration and shared experiences, our members help shape safer, stronger sporting environments for children and young people around the world.

Congratulations Jonathan and Elvis on representing the power of sport for social impact and the collective strength of the CAC family at Safe Sport 2026.

A smile is not expensive.

Play with children for a few minutes, and you will hear laughter, giggles, excitement, and joy filling the space.

This is the power of Purposeful Play.

Founded by Coaches Across Continents in 2021, the Global Day of Play celebrates play as more than just fun — but as a powerful tool for learning, wellbeing, inclusion, and social change.

As CAC moves towards the Global Day of Play on August 27, we celebrate how play creates moments where children feel free, included, confident, and connected — both inside and outside the classroom.

Often, a game, a smile, and a safe space can mean more than we realize

From Community Dreams to National Leadership | Gulafsha Ansari

In 2022, Gulafsha first joined Coaches Across Continents as a My Health, My Rights Campaign Leader, attending her first CAC Onfield Coach Education Program.

Coming from a slum community in Mumbai, she carried a strong belief that girls should not simply fit into traditional expectations of society — they should have the opportunity to make informed choices, become financially independent, and decide their own future.

Through Dreaming In Slums Foundation, Gulafsha began using football and Purposeful Play to create engaging learning spaces for girls in her community. With CAC she strengthened both her organization and her own leadership journey. implementing CAC campaigns including My Health, My Rights, ChildSAFE Education, Mental Health, and Climate Action.

Reflecting on her journey, Gulafsha shared:

“Through the Purposeful Play methodology, I discovered that learning can go beyond teaching — it can inspire, empower, and create lasting change.”

From Local Purposeful Play Coach to Community Purposeful Play Coach, and now becoming a National Purposeful Play Coach (NPPC), her journey reflects continuous learning, leadership, and commitment to community impact.

What began with facilitating sessions with children has now evolved into mentoring and training coaches — helping Purposeful Play reach and inspire many more communities.

Her story is also a reminder of the importance of support systems. Gulafsha credits her mother’s encouragement as an important part of her journey and growth.

This is what CAC’s Coach Accreditation Pathway is about:
Supporting local leaders to grow, lead, and create sustainable impact within their communities.

Congratulations, Gulafsha, on this incredible milestone!

50% of the world’s population menstruates…

So does that mean only 50% of the world needs to be educated about menstruation? Or should men and boys be part of the conversation too?

Because stigma doesn’t disappear in silence.
And cultural barriers don’t break when half the community is excluded.

In Tanzania, CAC’s Community Purposeful Play Coaches — Hellen, Neema, Grace, and Fred — have been delivering games from CAC's My Health, My Rights campaign, addressing sensitive topics including Menstrual Hygiene Management.

During one of Hellen’s sessions with young people, the girls began shy and hesitant to speak. The boys felt menstruation was “not their issue.” But through play, learning became easier — and safer. Soon, both girls and boys were sharing openly, confidently, and without embarrassment.

Meanwhile, Fred delivered coach education to 14 community leaders, and one discovery stood out: many of the male leaders only knew about sanitary pads as a menstrual product.

Through CAC games and discussions, they learned about:
🩸 menstrual cups
🩸 reusable and non-reusable pads
🩸 tampons
🩸 and the realities girls and women face every month

This is why the work of the TGFT coaches — and every coach worldwide delivering this campaign — is so important.

When men and boys are included, they begin to understand the experiences of their mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, and the women in their communities.

And that understanding is where stigma begins to end.

Menstruation is not just a “women’s issue.” It’s a community issue.

Purposeful Play in Action | Philippines

After some time away from onfield coaching, CAC National Purposeful Play Coach Chester returned to the field in Basey, Samar, Philippines — leading a 3-day Coach Education Program in partnership with Gawad Kalinga.

The program brought together Local Purposeful Play Coaches to explore how Purposeful Play can be used to address topics like climate change and children’s rights.

Throughout the training, coaches reflected on:
What it truly means to be a coach
How play can support learning and problem-solving
Creating fun, inclusive, and engaging learning spaces

On the final day, newly trained Local coaches facilitated their own sessions with children from Barangay Tinaogan using the CAC Purposeful Play curriculum — turning learning into action within their community.

To continue the impact, coaches also received starter kits and completion certificates to support future sessions with children.

This is how CAC works:
From coach education → to local leadership → to sustainable community impact.

90 minutes was NOT enough!

After our recent online session with our guest speaker Pushkar Ranjan, members of CAC’s online community made one thing very clear… we want more!

The feedback from our community partners was incredible:

Elvis (Umoja Sports DRC) said: “I have never had training like this before.”
Ritah (The Girly Network Uganda) said: “Please set us a task to do before we meet again.”
Sarah (Malaika) said: “I can’t wait to receive the toolkit — I’ve learned so much.”
Pushkar delivered an impactful session designed specifically for CAC’s community partners, supporting their journey from start-up to sustainable growth. The session was packed with practical tools and insights, including:

Storytelling that connects
Which social media platforms perform best in different geographical areas
The do’s and don’ts of taking strong photos
The difference between an audience and a community
Scheduling posts and planning content
What to post — and how to make it meaningful

And the best news?

Pushkar has kindly agreed to return!
Next time, we’ll dive into how AI can support storytelling, content creation, and scheduling.

Stay tuned — the learning continues!
