Snowtown USA

Snowtown USA Snowtown USA is a winter festival that takes place in and around Watertown, New York, every winter.

Following the Blizzard of 1977, Walter Cronkite actually coined the phrase “Snowtown USA,” when reporting how the blizzard dumped some 220 inches of snow on Watertown, New York. A few years later, organizers used it for the name of the new festival. Snowtown USA began in the early 1980s but ended in 1997 due to unfavorable weather conditions. Through a group of volunteers and the organizational st

ructure of the City of Watertown’s Parks and Recreation Department and Watertown First, Snowtown USA has been resurrected. The Snowtown USA Committee, which consist of leaders of the community have begun the planning phases of this year’s festivities. Snowtown USA is a component fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation.

SNOWTOWN UPDATE: The Snowtown USA Soup Cook-Off has been canceled due to low participation. However, if you’ve got a hankering for soup, our friends at BK's Smokehouse & Catering will offer up FREE bowls of soup this Sunday from 12-2 p.m., made possible by our generous sponsors!
