Thanks to Sen. Bobby Joe Champion, and his sponsorship of our camp in the MN legistature, we’re keeping our hopes high and planning for the restoration our historic camp! The completion of the project will mean that Northside youth can once again partake in the summer camp experience at a place that exists just for them.

We are thrilled to share that NAZ Anchor Partner Phyllis Wheatley Community Center has received $550,000 from the MN State Legislature toward the restoration of Camp Katharine Parsons.

Camp Katharine Parsons, which closed more than twenty years ago, was a mainstay for Northside youth for more than 40 years - teaching young people to canoe, swim, build fires, and build relationships to nature. Phyllis Wheatley hopes to complete the restoration and re-open the camp by 2025. Congratulations to Phyllis Wheatley Community Center and to all the future campers sure to be positively impacted by this beautiful camp and mission.
