A note from the Community Transit of Watertown/Sisseton Inc. regarding the federal mask mandate on mass transportation:

A note from the Community Transit of Watertown/Sisseton Inc. regarding the federal mask mandate on mass transportation:

There is a major misconception about the use of Facemasks on Community Transit vehicles. Because of the Federal Government Mandate in place, all riders, regardless of age, must wear a mask when traveling in any Public Transit vehicle anywhere in this country - not just Watertown, Sisseton, Webster, etc.......This includes airplanes, trains and buses. All of our drivers are still wearing masks when on duty. Masks are still required when visiting our offices.

This mandate has been extended again by the Feds to January 18, 2022. If you are planning to use public transit please respect the regulations in place. We do have masks on the bus for purchase for $1 each.

The only exception to this rule is for long distance travel in our vans. Each van has a protective device between the driver and passenger. Masks are required until the passenger is secured in the back of the van, the driver in his/her seat and the vehicle is moving down the road. At that time, the masks may be removed.

These rules and regulations pertain to all Community Transit of Watertown/Sisseton vehicles and offices. The rules and regulations are also consistent with other transit projects. Thank you for your co-operation.
