Members of Concord Lodge #13 in Watertown got together with some Masonic Brothers from Gower Lodge #397 out of Gower, Missouri. The Brothers from Missouri were in the area for a fishing trip and reached out and wanted to meet some other Mason's. We had supper and beverages and had a great fellowship with them. They toured our building and were very impressed with the building. It was a great time to get together with other Mason's from another state.

Concord Lodge #13 in Watertown hosted a media event and presented the Watertown Police Department with 3 Fire Suppression Tools. Worshipful Master Greg Dubois of Concord Lodge #13 opened the event and thanked everyone for coming out and supporting this great event. Greg introduced the Mayor of Watertown Ried Holien. Greg also introduced Captain Steve Rehorst of the Watertown Police Department. Both Mayor Ried and Captain Steve couldn't thank Concord Lodge #13 enough for purchasing these FST's and presenting them to the Watertown Police Department. Mayor Ried and Captain Steve also stated that it's great to see organizations get behind the Police Department and the Fire Department and support the First Responders of Watertown. They were happy to hear we had there back and to also give back to the community. The Mayor of Watertown, Captains of the Police Department, Members of the Fire Department, Most Worshipful Grand Master of South Dakota, and members of Concord Lodge were in attendance.

Your Watertown Masonic Lodge has purchased three Fire Suppression Tools that will be carried by the Watertown Police Department. If the Police arrive before the Fire Department, and the officer determines it is fitting to use, the device is thrown into the fire. The device puts out a cloud of chemical that can lower the temperature of a fire by 1,000 degrees and in some instances, it has put the fire out. It does not remove oxygen so it is safe to use if people or pets are inside. This device was initially deigned to fight fire in submarines.

This program has been in place through the Wisconsin Masonic Lodges and has many "SAVES" to it's credit. We hope these are never needed but if so, they can hopefully reduce damage to the structure and can help save a life. Each of these units are $900.00 each. If anyone would like to contribute to this terrific program, get in touch with any Mason.

Our Masonic Gift to the People of Watertown.
Through science and technology, a product has been invented to reduce the temperature of a structure fire by 1,000 degrees and it has even put out fires. It does all this while not removing oxygen so it is safe to use near people and pets. The device is carried by law enforcement since they most times arrive ahead of the fire department. The device is activated and thrown into a structure fire. Since a fire doubles in size each minute, this can reduce the fire temperature and give precious time for the fire department to arrive and attack the fire. This device will in no way replace the fire department. It only helps contain the fire until the fire department arrives. Please read the attachments below for the total story on this amazing product. This product was initially developed to fight fires in submarines.

A program has been started by the Grand Masonic Lodges in Wisconsin, Minnesota and now South Dakota to get these devices in the hands of first responders to help save life and property. Wisconsin has well over 20 saves where these products that have truly helped contain fires. Just recently, one was activated in Minnesota that resulted in saving two pets and the home they were in. Many "Saves" stories are available on the website.

The Concord Masonic Lodge #13 of Watertown, through the program started through the Grand Lodge of South Dakota, has noticed the safety benefit and importance of these products and has purchased three units to be carried by the Watertown Police Department. The South Dakota program is just getting started with the people of Watertown being one of the first cities to be protected by these amazing devices.

On Monday, the 15th of April, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Concord Lodge, 215 N Broadway, Watertown the official presentation of these Fire Suppression Tools will be made to the people of the City of Watertown. These units will be on display with any questions being answered.

These units need to be in more law enforcement hands. One in each patrol car would be perfect. We now would like to see these in our local Codington County Sheriff's cars. Since these units are $900.00 each, this is a sizeable investment. But we feel the benefits far outweigh the costs.

Come see what these technologically amazing products can do for Watertown and the people of the State of South Dakota.

If anyone should wish to donate to this program they should contact your local Masonic Lodge or through the Grand Lodge of South Dakota at:

The Grand Lodge of South Dakota, with help from the Grand Lodge of Wisconsin, is starting a program to put a fire suppression device into law enforcement patrol cars. Since law enforcement usually responds first, they will carry these devices. When they roll up on a fire, the officer can choose to deploy this device into the fire. After 8 seconds of deployment, the device then puts out a cloud of fire suppressant for about 35 seconds. This cloud will not remove oxygen from the building and is safe to use if people or animals are inside. It was initially devised for fire control on submarines. This cloud can lower the temperature of the fire by 1,000 degrees and in some instances can extinguish the fire. This does not make fire departments obsolete. The fire department is still needed to respond and put out the fire as they normally do. This device gives fire departments more of a fighting chance at saving more property or perhaps, a life. Here is the information on the Fire Suppression Tool page: https://www.facebook.com/FIRESS.us The Watertown Police has already agreed to carry these devices with more agencies to come. These devices are not harmed by the heat or cold of a car, they have a 15 year battery shelf life but they do cost $900.00 each. Your local and state Masonic Lodge will be buying as many of these as possible. Please, look through the page and you be the Judge for yourself. Wisconsin has used 8 of these units in actual fires with very positive results. More information will be forthcoming as well as press releases when the project gets fully started.
