Rotary Club of Monroe County

Rotary Club of Monroe County Meetings are the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month @ 6:00pm at Acorns in Waterloo, IL. This is the local Waterloo, Illinois Monroe County Rotary Club.

We are one of the newest club in Rotary District 6510! We are part of a global organization of people who apply their leadership, expertise, and diverse perspectives to solving social issues - and we build lifelong friendships in the process. Rotary is a volunteer organization of 1.2 million business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build goodwill

and peace. About 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas conduct projects to address today’s challenges — including illiteracy, disease, hunger, poverty, lack of clean water, and environmental concerns — while encouraging high ethical standards in all vocations. As the world’s largest private provider of international scholarships, The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International helps more than 1,000 students annually to study abroad and serve as cultural ambassadors. Rotary also partners with seven prestigious universities around the world, providing opportunities to earn a master’s degree in peace and conflict resolution. PolioPlus is Rotary’s flagship program. By the time polio is eradicated, Rotary club members will have contributed US$850 million and countless volunteer hours to immunize more than two billion children in 122 countries. Rotary is a spearheading partner in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, along with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Founded in Chicago in 1905 as the world’s first volunteer service organization, Rotary quickly expanded around the globe. Today, club members meet weekly to plan service projects, discuss community and international issues, and enjoy fellowship. Clubs are nonpolitical and open to every race, culture, and creed.

Were you out and about this past Saturday? Did you catch a glimpse of us on street corners? We were there, waving, smiling, and collecting donations to enable us to continue serving the community. Each donation plays a vital role in our community-focused projects. A sincere thank you to everyone who donated and waved hello. If you would like to support Rotary's community work but missed us on Saturday, you can still make a donation via Venmo.-

This evening, we were delighted to present scholarships to four local high school students, recognizing those who intend to pursue a career in the trades and have been commended by their school guidance counselors for exemplary character.
Congratulation to Justus Albers, Evan Chaffin, Tessa Knowlton and Keeley Cooper.

Also, thank you everyone who supported our fundraisers so we are able to continue to give back to our community.

The Turtle Creek Trail at the Waterloo's Lakeview Park was recently refreshed and is ready for you to enjoy. Usually twice a year, we lay new mulch along the path, clean up under the foot bridges and trim away any small branches that block the walkway.
After all that hard work, Monroe County Rotarians relaxed and enjoyed a BBQ at one of the park pavilions. Turtle Creek Trail maintenance is one of the many service projects we do in and around our local community.
