September is National Preparedness Month!

This year’s theme, “America Stands Ready,” reminds us that preparedness is something we build together.

• We stand ready to support one another: Simple preparedness steps help lighten the load on first responders during tough moments.
• We stand ready to care for loved ones: Planning ahead helps us protect family and friends when the unexpected happens.
• We stand ready to strengthen our communities: A proactive approach to readiness boosts resilience across our neighborhoods.

All month long, we’ll be sharing quick tips and resources to help you stay prepared.
Let’s stay ready — together.

4th of July celebration spark an interest in history?? Know a youth who just can't get enough of the History Channel or an artist who is looking to try something new??

ALL YOUTH are invited to make a Living History craft.... Civil War-era inspired scrimshaw!!

Scrimshaw is a traditional art form that became popular in the 1700s and 1800s, especially among sailors and whalers, where designs were carefully carved or etched into materials such as bone, ivory, or shells and then highlighted to reveal detailed images.

Youth can make either a brooch/cameo or a medallion for a pocket watch/ uniform badge ($10 for bone, ink and supplies) or a powder horn ($15).

When: Sunday, July 19th 1:00- 3:00pm
Where: Seneca County 4-H CCE office
( 369 E. Main Street, Waterloo - adjacent to the Huntington Living Center)

Please contact Karen at [email protected] or call 315-539-9251 for more information or to register.

Seneca County 4-H NY is the youth development program of Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension
