Waterloo Police Request Public's Assistance

Waterloo Police Detectives are asking for the public’s help regarding a recent homicide investigation. Detectives are asking any citizens with surveillance video in the outlined area to check their video systems for any suspicious activity from about 3:00 PM to 8:30 PM on 10/8/26. This could include any instances of disorderly conduct, fights, people running through yards or anyone hiding on or in anyone's property.

Homicide Investigation Underway – W. 3rd Street and Baltimore Street

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 8th, 2026

On Thursday, October 8th, 2026, at approximately 4:41 p.m., Black Hawk County Consolidated Dispatch received multiple reports of shots fired in the area of West 3rd Street and Baltimore Street. During these calls, dispatchers were informed that an individual had been struck by gunfire.

Officers responded and located a male victim who had been shot. Life saving measures were immediately initiated. Waterloo Fire & Rescue personnel arrived shortly thereafter, continued medical aid, and transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim was later pronounced deceased.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending proper family notification. The investigation remains active, and no additional details are available for release at this time.

We are asking the public's assistance with locating a subject that has been reported missing in Waterloo. Dante Renae Fuller, age 30, has been reported missing by family and roommates. She is believed to be wearing the same or similar clothing as shown in the photo. UPDATE – W. 3rd Street Homicide Victim Identified

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 29, 2026

On Saturday, September 26, 2026, at approximately 10:14 a.m., Black Hawk County Consolidated Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a deceased individual in a bushy area in the 1000 block of West 3rd Street in Waterloo. Responding officers located the victim’s body, as well as evidence at the scene indicating gunshots had been fired.

The victim has been identified as 17-year-old Owen Cannon of Waterloo. Cannon was transported to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy to be completed.
No further information will be released at this time, as this remains an active and ongoing investigation.

Homicide Investigation Underway After Body Found

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 27, 2026

On Saturday, September 26, 2026, at approximately 10:14 a.m., Black Hawk County Consolidated Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a deceased individual in a bushy area in the 1000 block of West 3rd Street in Waterloo. Responding officers located the body and confirmed the victim was a 17 year old male. Evidence at the scene indicated gunshots had been fired.

Waterloo Police Detectives, assisted by the Waterloo Police Department Tactical Team, executed a search warrant as part of the investigation.

Detectives believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community. The victim’s name is being withheld pending proper family notification. The investigation remains active, and no additional details will be released at this time.
