is a not-for-profit organization registered in the state of Iowa. RIDER EDUCATION PROGRAM

ABATE of Iowa, Inc. is a proud sponsor of Iowa's quality Motorcycle Rider
Education (BRC) program administered by the Office of Driver Services of the
Department of Transportation. Iowa's BRC program teaches the "Basic Rider
Course" (BRC) of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). ABATE of Iowa
provide

s motorcycle rider training at various locations throughout the State of
Iowa. Our instructors are Iowa-licensed, MSF-certified and are all experienced
motorcyclists. The BRC is aimed at beginning riders of all ages and utilizes
curriculum and materials developed by the MSF.

I'm a biker spouse, please understand...

The 2 car lengths I leave between me and the car in front of me isn't for you to cut me off...its for safe stopping distance.
Contrary to popular belief, I can't stop my bike on a dime.

I speed up, when in your blind spot not to race--but so you see me and become aware of my presence.

Please put your phone down & stop texting, And FaceBooking or SnapChatting!!

Use your mirrors and the eyes in your head to look before proceeding out of the driveway, the parking lot, or thorough an intersection when the light has turned because the life you save may be mine...or yours!

Remember to share the road…I may be a Mother, a Father, a Grandmother, a Grandfather, an aunt, an uncle, a friend, a colleague, a brother, or a Sister.

I know I take a risk when I get on my bike to do something I love...but understand this.... I never give you or anyone else permission to take my life in your hands simply because you can not be patient and wait until it's safe to change lanes, pull out, or take that phone call or text.

My bike is loud so you know I'm near. I ride with my high-beams on at all times, this is so you can see me day or night...it is not meant to interfere with your vision so please do not flash me. I have one headlight...you have 4.

Please watch out for this Biker & all my Brothers & Sisters. Not just today but everyday. Let's just make it a habit of purposely scanning the road for bikers like you do playing "slug bug".
Simply doing that will make you more aware of the bikers on the road which makes it safer for all of us.

If you're my friend or family...biker or not...& support this PSA--please feel free to copy & paste! Let's make the roads safer for all of us...our families want us to make it home.
