Baebler Educational Farm

Baebler Educational Farm A Monroe County Extension & 4-H Education Foundation owned property dedicated to providing opportunities for youth to appreciate natural resources. farm.

Vera and her husband Kenneth Baebler enjoyed many years on their rural Monroe Co. They enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife, fishing the ponds, and walking in the woods on their property. Vera, having a strong desire to share her love of nature, donated the farm to the Monroe County Extension & 4-H Education Foundation in March 2014. It was her wish to give the youth of Monroe County a place to explore and enjoy nature as much as she did.

Friday we had the wonderful folks from Farm Credit come out an help us with the spring cleanup. Nine workers did many tasks including spraying the pergola with Mold fighting fluids, areas were mowed around small trees, w**ding was done in the pollinator habitat, roadways and non crop areas were sprayed for w**ds, copper was put in the large pond to control alga, trees were trimmed, marigolds transplanted and zinnias planted and bush honeysuckle was sprayed in the woods. Everyone worked so hard and accomplished a lot. THANK YOU so much.

Some fall cleanup occurred with the help of volunteers at the farm. We mowed around small trees in a couple areas, cleaned up many branches and a couple downed trees around the pond near the pergola and mowed the area, we began to moved mulch around the bees and rain garden, the tables under the huge oak by the pavilion but as we started mulching the playground set we had tractor problems.....so didn't get that done. Another day!
Hope you all come out and enjoy some nature time over the winter months.

Well way behind in posting anything!! The last couple months we had a lot of rain and hot weather leading to an abundance of w**ds and excess growth followed by a drought. We have spent the last 6 weeks mowing, cleaning up the front entrance, flowerbeds and the pollinator habitat, painting the boat shed, w**d eating along the ponds, cleaning the pergola, spraying honeysuckle in the woods, making a base for the garbage bin and filling a large hole in front of a dock..... The only good thing about the drought it allowed us to catch up. Thanks to those that have helped.
