23% !! of the children in the United States, live in homes led by a single mom. In our organization of Cedar Valley, Flourish Families, the women may be divorced, widowed, never married, or maybe a single grandmother. These women desire to give their families a solid Christian foundation, and they all work so hard to provide for their families. Let’s flip the script and not just think of our own comfort and security but invest in the lives of single parent families however the Lord would lead you.

To unite the Christian community in demonstrating their love for Jesus by sharing their time, talent and resources to empower the single mother's and their families to thrive and not just survive. To continue to grow the opportunities to theses families.

Cedar Valley Flourish Families would like to thank Eastern Iowa Youth Bassmasters for their recent donation of fishing poles & tackle for our upcoming yearly family event! Our organization serves single mothers and their children. Each year we celebrate Mothers Day with a picnic and fishing. This will be the second year that the Eastern Iowa Youth Bassmasters will volunteer to help the kids fish. Last year there were over 400 fish caught!! They set up lakeside just like a regular fishing tournament and keep track of the weight and number of fish caught by each angler. They also supply trophies. What a great organization with hearts to mentor others to fish.

Intentional Parenting Idea:
At its core, the 7-7-7 rule is exactly what it sounds like: spend 7 minutes in the morning, 7 minutes after school or work, and 7 minutes before bed in a dedicated, undivided connection with your child. During these short windows, the goal isn't productivity or problem-solving.💓💓💓💓

2025 has been a great year! We’re looking forward to what the Lord has in store for 2026.

To every single parent walking through a season that feels heavy and unfinished—take heart.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
—Psalm 34:18

This year may not have turned out the way you prayed it would. Some battles are still ongoing. Some situations are still far from ideal. Yet Scripture reminds us:

“In all things God works for the good of those who love Him.”
—Romans 8:28

If you are still standing, still loving your children, still trusting God day by day—that is not small. That is grace.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
—2 Corinthians 12:9

Even when the road has been hard, what you have overcome this year is still a blessing. God has sustained you, strengthened you, and gone before you.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
—Exodus 14:14

If all you can do today is trust Him one more time, know this:

“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.”
—Isaiah 40:31

Prayer for the year ahead:
Lord, as we step into a new year, we place our families, our fears, and our hopes in Your hands. Give us wisdom for each decision, peace that guards our hearts, and strength for the days ahead. Go before us and make our paths straight. Help us to trust You when we cannot see the outcome and to rest in Your promises when the journey feels long. May our homes be covered in Your presence, our children protected by Your love, and our hearts anchored in Your truth.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you.” (Numbers 6:24–26)

Concerning the hold on SNAP benefits:
I love our community. A local gal posted on ourcommunity page that she had eggs for those in need as she didn’t want anyone going hungry. I stopped by and she gifted me 6 dozen. I then stopped by a local Kwik Star and spent $20 on potatoes, bread, butter, milk and fruit. When I dropped off the eggs and groceries, the mom was very grateful. Who do you know that might need your help?
Proverbs 22:9: "The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with those in need.

Our group serves single moms and their families. This is a faith based ministry.
Wednesday, September 17 we kick off our 8 week fall study on The Emotionally Healthy Woman. Class time is 6:30- 8:00 PM @ Celebration Church, 745 April Street, Waterloo. Nursery, Kids Church and Youth Group are all available. Please join us for lots of encouragement, laughter and prayers.
