LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE:

Waterford Letters for Rose
-Ambassadors (2)
-Outreach Coordinator (1)

Descriptions:

Ambassador - Your job would be to find people who want to write letters/make artwork. This can be done through texting your friends, posting on different social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, etc.), or making flyers to put up around the school and our community. You will then have to communicate with the rest of our chapter about who is interested in volunteering. You will then reach out to the volunteers so that they know which residents they are writing letters to, where to drop off their letters/artwork, etc.

Outreach Coordinator - Your job would be to connect our chapter to facilities directly. This can be through calling or emailing different nursing homes, or even getting creative with different ways to advertise our cause. For example, this year we collaborated with Irresistible Nutrition to create the Letters for Rose tea!

These leadership opportunities will be an excellent addition to any resume or college application. Being a member of this organization won me several community service/leadership awards and scholarships. Our chapter even made it onto the news! It is not something you want to miss out on!

If you are interested or have any questions about Letters for Rose, please reach out to Mrs. Spulnick, Mrs. Ancin, or me (Izzy D'Ambro) directly by texting me at (518) 414-0657 or emailing [email protected]

Thanks guys!

The Waterford Chapter of Letters for Rose is proud to announce our first letter-writing competition being held in the Waterford-Halfmoon Elementary School! Any student in grades K-6 is welcome to participate! Whichever class writes the most letters by the end of the competition wins the ice cream party! There will be two ice cream parties: grades K-3 will be competing for one party while grades 4-6 will be competing for another. Students can bring in letters or artwork they create at home to increase their class' number of letters (and therefore increasing their chance of winning), so please encourage your student to bring in as many letters as possible!

Thank you for doing your part in helping out the elders in our community!

The Waterford Letters for Rose leadership team got together today to try out Irresistible Nutrition’s newest addition to the menu... The Letters for Rose tea!!! It is a delicious blend of watermelon and green apple flavoring. We also stopped by our drop off box located right at Sugarloaf Pond!

Be sure to check out the new tea and drop off some letters/artwork! Thank you for all the support, we couldn’t do it without you 💗

Letters for Rose has some very exciting news! We have officially installed a new dropoff mailbox right at Sugarloaf Pond, which was so generously donated by Lowe's in Clifton Park! We wanted to give a special thank you to the Town of Waterford for permitting us to put up our mailbox here and to the Highway Department for installing it! It is placed directly next to the Little Library. Featured in these pictures is Isabella D'Ambro, our Waterford Chapter Head.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates coming for our chapter sometime next week!

We are so excited to announce that the Waterford Chapter of Letters for Rose is officially accepting letters both inside and outside of the Waterford Public Library!

You might be asking yourself, what is Letters for Rose? Letters for Rose aims to reduce loneliness among elders during the COVID-19 pandemic by creating and distributing personalized letters, art, and donations for local nursing homes! Founded and staffed exclusively by high school student volunteers, with chapters in over 35 states, Letters for Rose creates community service, team-building, and leadership opportunities for its volunteers.

Volunteers of all ages are invited to participate! A kind letter or a sweet drawing is sure to bring a smile to the resident's faces! Once you have completed your letter or artwork, please feel free to either have your child bring it into school with them (Waterford-Halfmoon UFSD only) or drop it off at the Waterford Public Library!
