🍀 JUSTICE FOR MAVERICK, GIZMO & ZAIN 🐴❤️

Today marked another important step toward justice for Maverick, Gizmo, and Zain.

Following today's restitution hearing, both defendants agreed to accept responsibility for the full restitution amount requested by Lucky Clover Rescue, with each responsible for 50%.

During today's hearing, we shared the heartbreaking conditions these horses arrived in, the extensive care required for their rehabilitation, and the extraordinary dedication of the volunteers who helped give them a second chance.

Our restitution request was accepted in full, and we are incredibly grateful for this outcome.

While today's decision is a meaningful victory, restitution will be paid gradually over time and represents only a portion of what it takes to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide lifelong care for animals in need.

Our work doesn't stop here. Maverick, Gizmo, and Zain still have ongoing needs, as do the many other animals who call Lucky Clover home. And somewhere out there, another horse is waiting for the second chance we hope to provide.
Your continued support makes those second chances possible. Every donation, sponsorship, volunteer hour, and act of kindness helps us care for the animals already depending on us while remaining ready for those who will need us tomorrow.

Today, we celebrate accountability. Tomorrow, we continue our mission.

Because rescue doesn't end with justice. It continues with love, commitment, and a community that refuses to give up on them. 🍀❤️

Tomorrow, October 15th, we return to court for the restitution hearing involving these three incredible boys.

Nearly a year ago, they came to us as victims of heartbreaking neglect. Today, their transformations are a testament to what compassion, dedication, and a second chance can accomplish. 💚

With criminal sentencing behind us, tomorrow marks another important step toward accountability.

Their past cannot be changed, but their future has been rewritten.

Tomorrow, we continue being their voice. 🍀🐴

A HUGE thank you to Bigelow Appliance Sales & Service, Inc. in Burlington for their generous donation of a chest freezer! 💚🍀

Now, you might be wondering why a horse rescue needs a non-working freezer. Well, we have had some unwanted little visitors helping themselves to our chickens' food supply! 🐭🐔

This freezer will give us a great way to store their feed and keep those uninvited dinner guests out. Sometimes the things that no longer work for one purpose are exactly what we need for another!

We are still on the hunt for one more non-working chest freezer to store our horse feed, so if anyone has one they're looking to get rid of or knows where we might find one, please send us a message!

Hey Friends!

We have an opportunity for you to spend some time with us and our horses! Join us for our Fall Farm Clean Up! We have plenty of projects to tackle as we get the farm ready for winter, including pasture cleanup, picking up sticks and debris, preparing the duck pond, and general seasonal maintenance. No special skills needed, just a willingness to pitch in and make a difference for our animals.

🍀 With so many new faces joining our little corner of social media, we thought it was time to reintroduce ourselves! 🐴💚

Hi there! We are Lucky Clover Equine Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Waterford, Wisconsin. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome equines who have experienced abuse, neglect, or simply found themselves in need of a safe place to land.

Our journey began in 2019 with 15 horses rescued from the slaughter pipeline. Since then, we've had the opportunity to provide 40 equines with a safe landing, gentle hands, full bellies, and the time they need to learn to trust again.

Our residents have come to us through slaughter pipeline and sheriff's department seizures. Each one has a different story, different needs, and certainly their own personality! Some are here temporarily while they recover and prepare for their forever homes, while others will spend the rest of their days enjoying retirement right here at Lucky Clover.

While horses and donkeys are at the heart of what we do, you might notice a few feathered friends wandering around the property, too! Our flock has grown over the years through a variety of circumstances, and they have become just as much a part of the Lucky Clover family. 🐓🦆

Behind the scenes, we have a group of dedicated volunteers who spend countless hours making sure our residents receive the care, attention, and love they deserve. From mucking stalls and filling water troughs to coordinating veterinary care, maintaining the property, and fundraising, we always have something happening around here!

To everyone who has been following our journey for years, thank you for sticking with us. And to those who have just found us, welcome! 💚

We love sharing the everyday happenings around the farm, the personalities of our residents, the occasional shenanigans, a little bit of education, and the moments that make all the hard work worthwhile.

We're glad you're here, and we hope you'll stick around to get to know our herd! 🍀🐴

We're taking a moment to shine the spotlight on one of our original residents, Roxy! 🐴💚

Roxy is one of the original 15 horses who came to Lucky Clover from auction, and after all these years, she's more than earned her retirement. 🍀

Now, Roxy has always been a mare with some VERY strong opinions. She is particular about who she considers a friend, and even more particular about what's on the menu!

Just like people, horses have their own likes, dislikes, and preferences. Roxy just happens to take hers a little more seriously than most. She is a creature of habit, and changing anything about her meals can turn into quite the negotiation. If it's not up to her standards, she will be sure to let us know!

As she's gotten older, keeping weight on her has become a little more challenging. She receives daily grain to help maintain her weight and keep her looking and feeling her best. But of course, finding something that meets her nutritional needs AND passes Roxy's taste test is an adventure all its own.

She is a little stubborn, a little dramatic, and very set in her ways, but we wouldn't have her any other way. 💚

After everything she has been through, she's earned the right to be a picky old lady. And we are happy to let her be just that. 🍀

What a wonderful way to spend our Sunday! 🍀🐴

We were invited to join the fun at DW Coffee Rochester & Wind Lake Touch-A-Truck event today, and we had such a great time!

A huge thank you to Leslie at DW Coffee for letting us invade your space for the afternoon and help spread the word about Lucky Clover Rescue! 💚

We brought along a little bit of everything, including some of our horse artwork and Lucky Clover merchandise, and boy, did it turn out to be a busy day!

Getting out into the community and sharing what we do at the rescue is something we truly enjoy. Whether you stopped by to check out our goodies, ask questions about our residents, or just say hello, we loved getting to chat with everyone!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and made our morning so enjoyable. We always appreciate an opportunity to introduce a few more people to our little corner of the world! 🐴🍀

Remember Mayflower's dramatic solo performance in the rain while Maisie stood by, judging silently… but somehow VERY loudly? 😂🐴

Well, apparently we've uncovered footage of the herd meeting that took place BEFORE Mayflower's big performance!

And yes, this seems to be the herd's official conference room. Rain or shine, all important business is conducted right here. Apparently, nobody thought to include a roof in the budget. 🌧️🤣

While most of the herd was present for this very important meeting, the boys seemingly decided the girls had everything under control and their attendance was no longer necessary. Smart move? Debatable.

We're not entirely sure what was on the agenda, but we suspect it went something like this:

🐴 Mayflower: "I'd like to propose a musical number."
🐴 Maisie: "I'd like to propose you don't."
🐴 Mayflower: "Motion carried!"

Meeting adjourned. Mayflower headed straight for the stage, and Maisie immediately regretted attending.

Another highly productive herd meeting. Zero problems solved. One concert nobody asked for. And the boys somehow managed to stay out of it. 😂🍀

Hey there! My name is Archer!

I'm a 10-year-old Missouri Foxtrotter, a mountain of a horse, and a toddler trapped in a very large body. 😂

I never quite grew out of my goofy phase, but when it's time to work, I know how to buckle down and focus... for the most part. Sometimes there are just more interesting things going on!

Now, you might be wondering how I got my name. Take a good look at this picture! See that white marking running down my face? If you look closely, you'll notice it looks just like an arrow! 🏹

Pretty fitting, don't you think?

I'm not available for adoption though, I'm lucky enough to call Lucky Clover Rescue my forever home! 💚 

Anyway, that's enough about me. I just wanted to pop in, say hello, and make sure you got a good look at my handsome face! 💚

Oh, to know what goes on inside their heads sometimes... 😂

If you've spent any time around our herd, you know we have some BIG personalities at Lucky Clover!

We've got the ones who always have to be in everyone's business, the ones who act like they haven't been fed in three days (despite having fresh grass available or hay right in front of them), the troublemakers (Archer...), the drama queens, and of course, the ones who just stand back and silently judge everyone else's decisions. 

Sometimes we can't help but wonder what they would say if they could actually talk.

➡️ So here's a fun question for everyone!

If you could sit down and have a five-minute conversation with any one of our residents, who would you choose, and what would you ask them?

We have a feeling some of them would have some VERY interesting things to say, and knowing this bunch, a few would probably just ask for more treats. 👀💚
