🚨 URGENT: RESCUE / EXPERIENCED BOTTLE FEEDER NEEDED FOR 3 ~2-WEEK-OLD KITTENS 🚨
These three kittens were brought to me very late last night, around 11:50 PM. I agreed to keep them fed, warm, and alive overnight while their finder figured out where they could go today.
These kittens are NOT currently part of my rescue. I was only supposed to be an emergency overnight stop because kittens this young cannot simply go all night without being fed.
I’m leaving town for a work trip October 1st–5th, and I already have bottle babies of my own that someone will be caring for while I’m gone. That person is newer to bottle feeding and understandably is not comfortable suddenly taking on three additional neonatal kittens, especially when one requires a little extra patience.
So I am urgently looking for either:
• A rescue that can intake these three kittens
• An experienced bottle feeder who could temporarily care for them while I’m gone
• Potentially a rescue/foster situation where I could take them back after October 5th and continue their care/adoption through my rescue
I would also consider paying for their spays/neuters through my vet to help make intake easier for another rescue.
They appear generally healthy so far. Their weights, temperatures, activity levels, etc. have been pretty normal. One has a little crustiness around the eyes, but I have not noticed sneezing, gurgling, obvious respiratory distress, or anything else particularly concerning.
One kitten is having a harder time latching. The kitten is eating, but it has required patience and has been taking around 5 mL at a feeding by slowly taking tiny drops along the side of the cheek/mouth. Whoever takes them needs to be comfortable with neonatal kittens and understand that this baby cannot be force fed or have formula pushed quickly into its mouth, because aspiration can be deadly. Patience is extremely important.
If I cannot find an appropriate rescue/foster placement very soon, they will be going to the shelter today.
And before anyone leaves negative comments about that: please understand that the alternative last night was three approximately two week old kittens potentially going hours without food or appropriate care. I was fortunate enough to be able to pick them up at almost midnight and stay up feeding them so they could safely make it through the night. I cannot cancel my work trip, and I cannot responsibly leave three additional neonatal kittens with someone who is not yet comfortable caring for them.

🍼 KITTEN STATS / CURRENT CARE
All three appear to be approximately 2 weeks old based on their size/development.
Smallest kitten, light Grey, Boy — 8.6 oz / ~244 g
• Approx. 2 weeks old
• Has the weakest latch of the three
• Currently taking around 5 mL per feeding
• Will lick/swallow tiny drops, so I have been very slowly dripping formula along the side of the mouth/cheek and allowing the kitten to swallow on its own
• This kitten needs someone patient — NO squeezing formula into the mouth or force-feeding because of the risk of aspiration
Middle kitten, Boy, Tabby — 9.7 oz / ~275 g
• Approx. 2 weeks old
• has latched a few times but also has been a bit picky as well! he’s hit or miss!
• Currently taking around 10 mL per feeding
Largest kitten, Ligh grey, Girl — 10.1 oz / ~286 g
• Approx. 2 weeks old
• Latching/eating well
• Currently taking around 10 mL per feeding
They are currently being offered food about every 2 hours, including overnight.
For kittens around this age/size, the exact amount per feeding varies based on weight and how frequently they are being fed. As a rough guide, kittens in this weight range will often take approximately 5–10 mL at a feeding, with smaller/more frequent meals when feeding every 2 hours. They should never be forced to finish a specific amount. A kitten that stops swallowing, becomes overly full, or is resisting should not have formula pushed into them.

This situation is also a perfect example of why I desperately want to build a larger foster network.

i’ve been reaching out to rescues all night as well, at this point i got 2 hours left to find them a space or it’s the shelter.
The Shelter isn’t a threat it’s just the reality of the situation. So once again no negative comments.
