Hand to Hand for Haiti

Hand to Hand for Haiti Since 1987, Hand to Hand for Haiti has worked with faith community leaders in Haiti to foster hope. We have no paid administrators. One example is a new clinic.

Although we are a small organization, we have been able to achieve results with very little overhead (

community improvement, such as latrines, clinics, and education, Hand to Hand for Haiti has responded with training and funding. Organizations are held accountable to meet goals and standards before receiving money. Joseph and Micheline Michel, along with two other couples, started Hand to Hand for Haiti on a prayer in 1987. They met regularly to pray about how to alleviate the tremendous needs of the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Out of those prayers came an organization that still runs on a shoestring, targeting needs by partnering with Haitian leaders who supply project ideas and manpower. In Haiti, doctors and clean water are scarce. In 2011, Hand to Hand for Haiti addressed both problems when it opened a clinic in Carrefour-des-peres and provided a well to serve both the clinic and the community. Still, the heart of the mission is healing the spirit. “Jesus said we will always have poor people with us,” said Hand to Hand for Haiti president Joseph Michel. “We are helping people to meet their earthly needs, but our main goal is to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.” Even after the devastating 2010 earthquake, Joseph witnessed people singing praises to God, sustained by the hope that comes from faith. After the earthquake, Hand to Hand for Haiti distributed $10,000 to three partners who were helping displaced persons. Mission trips include Bible teaching and other training for church leaders, in addition to mobile clinics and health education. They also conduct crusades where people commit their lives to following Christ and gain an eternal perspective.

Our partner, Project TSIDKENU, has been traveling around Haiti, spreading the news of God’s love and mobilizing God’s people for 3 days of prayer and fasting this weekend, July 4,5,6. Even as we in the US celebrate our freedom, please join them in praying for a nationwide revival and for God to do a marvelous work that will change Haiti for generations.

A big concern in Haiti right now is the spread of organized crime outside the capital. People are being attacked, robbed and put out of their homes. One of our ministry partners, Grande Chorale De l’Eglise Wesleyenne Smyrne de Cité Chauvel, (the Choir Mission of the Wesleyan Church of Smyrna of Cite Chauvel), is trying to help about 300 families displaced or otherwise victimized in the down of Mirebalais. They will be distributing kits of food and hygiene products (examples shown). Each kit costs about $60. Would you like to show solidarity with those affected and to restore a measure of human dignity? You can donate here. Amid turbulent times in Haiti, the Build Back Better house project continues! It is common for a large extended family to occupy a home. A sturdy, intact home is a source of security. Many homes were severely damaged in earthquakes and hurricanes in the last several years. Using traditional techniques to fortify wall panels with local material will help these homes weather the next storm better. This project will impact generations. Three houses are ready for renovation and waiting for sponsorship. Homeowners contribute labor and/or materials to the project. About $1400 will pay for a complete renovation. You can donate here and add a note: "Build back better." https://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=AGRUJN9KVDBVY&ssrt=1748354322347
