The beauty and allure of the Green Mountains have attracted mountain purists from all over the world. The time has come to put Vermont huts on the map.

Our mission is to foster a deeper appreciation of our natural environment and strengthen Vermont’s communities by providing enriching and immersive outdoor experiences for all. Hard-working Vermonters have created remarkable recreational opportunities for locals and tourists to enjoy. Countless trails were created over the years by skiers, mountain bikers, and hikers. Our mission is to take these

individual trail systems and unify them by linking a cohesive network of backcountry accommodations – where huts, cabins, yurts and lodges will exist to enhance our outdoor adventures. Our immediate efforts will be to unify the existing backcountry accommodations in the state. Once that’s completed, we’ll look to create new lodging opportunities to connect the dots in between. This process won’t be easy, but it needs to be done, and that’s what we’re here to do. It will take an enormous amount of statewide and community collaboration to build this network. So, if you operate a backcountry shelter, we’d love to chat with you. If you’re an eager mountain biker or skier, get involved by raising awareness about our efforts.

From the archives—August 2018

Our first partner hut! From the start, Vermont Huts & Trails' goal was to leverage existing huts (ie: partner huts) in Vermont, while building new ones where gaps needed to be filled, so as to offer a diverse and cohesive hut network to the public. The first partner hut to join our network was the Nulhegan Confluence Hut, located at the confluence of the Nulhegan River and its East Branch.

HUT HIGHLIGHT!

Located at the base of Mt. Cobb, the Meadowlark Yurt sits on a 623-acre private parcel—complete with a lookout tower, outdoor kitchen, and miles of quiet forest to explore. These two gents met with a group of like-minded backcountry enthusiasts to discuss the potential for a, “cohesive, four-season hut network that could serve multiple user groups.”

From there, RJ and Devin took the reigns and began an inventory of existing “hut style” accommodations in VT...the beginnings of Vermont Huts & Trails.

WINTER HUT-2-HUT ADVENTURE RAFFLE PREVIEW...

Enter for a chance to win one of TWO three-night, hut-to-hut adventures along the . The winner of this prize package (valued at over $500!) will be drawn on April 30th, 2026.

Day 1: Guests will spend their first night at Bolton Lodge, a rustic and historic cabin restored by in 2017. Enjoy the firelight and good company and get ready for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: After a hearty cabin breakfast, you'll enjoy a mostly downhill tour on the Catamount Trail, making your way through Honey Hollow before arriving at the Crow's Nest Yurt, a gem in the center of ski center.
