We are so proud to share this exciting news and are thankful to the United Way of Greater Waterbury, who is serving as Grant Manager for the State of CT Social Equity Council's R2 Program in our Waterbury region. This competitive, three-year grant initiative supports community-based projects and we are thrilled to be awarded this grant under the Youth Initiatives category.

We have been selected as grant recipient receiving $50,000 annually for the next 3 years which will support and help us to expand our out of school enrichment clubs offered after school, during vacations, and summer. These clubs are so impactful for our girls and we are thankful for their support!

United Way of Greater Waterbury is pleased to serve as Grant Manager for the State of Connecticut Social Equity Council’s R2 Program for the Waterbury Region, a competitive 3-year grant initiative leveraging CT cannabis tax revenue to support community-based initiatives. The program provides funding to eligible organizations to implement projects focused on Economic Development, Reentry Initiatives (for justice-impacted youth and adults), and Youth Initiatives.

Our girls had so much fun with this activity! Not only did we get to enjoy a beautiful fall day outside, but our girls collected wonderful leaves that they transformed into amazing animals and creatures they designed! They had a blast and are so very creative!

It's Wednesday, a day where we get to celebrate all the amazing Women who have made our organization what it is today and who continue to empower girls in our community!

Today, a special thank you goes out to Ms. Nancy, who so graciously volunteered to share her baking talents with our girls! Our girls enjoyed the time, learned so much and made some delicious treats that they all got to share! What a wonderful day!

Who doesn't love a good balloon toss?! And that's why Friday Nights are a blast with us! From balloons to basketball, board games to science experiments, cooking/ baking to dance parties...every week it's all smiles and laughs! A good night with good friends and great fun! “Heads, Shoulders, Snatch!”...wait, what?? Our girls had a blast with this game where they had to listen carefully to instructions to know their next move, before reacting to the word “snatch”, where they had to try to be the first to grab the cup! Based on the smiles and laughs, they had a blast! Then they followed up with some calming yoga, to round out the afternoon.

Friday Night's a blast and when it's Mystery night, it's even better! Our girls had a great time becoming detectives for the night. We did a secret message and handprint science experiment using a turmeric and baking soda chemical reaction! Then our newly appointed detectives had to match identities and fingerprints of all the suspects. It was a very fun night for all!!

Nothing like a building block challenge to get things going! Working as a team, our girls went to work creating the tallest structure they could build! What a fun way to finish off the week!

What a great afternoon, experimenting with different liquids to observe how they can actually stack on top of each other and create a cool experiment! We added different items to see what layer of the density experiment it would affect. Overall, it was a very cool steam project that kept our girls guessing and making great hypotheses throughout the entire project!
