β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ’š A Heartfelt Thank You to the Juneteenth Collective of Waterbury β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ’š

On behalf of myself and with deep personal gratitude, I want to extend a sincere thank you to the dedicated members of the Juneteenth Collective for organizing and presenting another meaningful and inspiring Juneteenth celebration for our community.

Your commitment to preserving history, uplifting culture, educating future generations, and creating spaces for reflection and celebration does not go unnoticed. The care, planning, and passion that each of you poured into this year's events were evident in every detail.

The torch of remembrance, resilience, and freedom is being faithfully carried forward, and I am grateful to witness and support that work. Please know that each of you holds a special place in my heart. Your efforts strengthen our community and honor the legacy of those who came before us.

Thank you for ensuring that the story of Juneteenth continues to be shared, celebrated, and passed on to future generations.

With appreciation and respect,

πŸŒ»πŸ–€β€οΈπŸ’š A Simple Act of Remembrance. A Powerful Commitment to History.

This Thursday morning, the NAACP Greater Waterbury Branch will place two mums at the Memorial on the front lawn of the Silas Bronson Library in remembrance of the enslaved individuals buried there and in honor of their lives and legacy in Waterbury.

Why should Waterbury care?

βœ… Honor Those Who Came Before Us – Every community is strengthened when it remembers its full history.

βœ… Preserve Local History – The Grand Street Cemetery tells an important story about the lives, contributions, and legacy of Black residents in Waterbury.

βœ… Build a More Informed Community – By reading the plaque and learning this history, we help ensure these stories are never forgotten.

No program. No speeches. Just reflection, remembrance, and gratitude.

Why did I create this flyer?

Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Carson Aesthetics Wellness Spa and speaking with owner Nicole. During our conversation, she shared something that stopped me in my tracks:

"I've heard of the NAACP, and I've always been committed to the community, but no one has ever asked me to join."

That simple statement reminded me of an important lesson: people cannot always support what they have never been invited to be part of.

As a proud NAACP Life Member, I shared my personal "why"β€”why membership matters, why collective voices matter, and how local branches create opportunities for advocacy, education, leadership, and community impact. The conversation made a difference.

Without hesitation, Nicole said, "If you create a flyer, I'll proudly display it in my business."

I was overjoyed.

So here it is.

Thank you, Nicole, for your willingness to support the NAACP Greater Waterbury Branch and for reminding me that sometimes all it takes is an invitation.

You are a powerful leader, a phenomenal business owner, and an example of community partnership in action.

And on a personal noteβ€”I am hooked! The service is exceptional, the treatments are outstanding, and the pricing is affordable. Your mother's teas are truly "the tea!" β˜•οΈ

Thank you for creating a welcoming space where people feel valued and cared for.

If you've ever thought about joining the NAACP, consider this your invitation.

Together, we are stronger.

Dear Freedom Fund Supporters and Community Partners,

As we continue to celebrate the success and impact of our 2026 Freedom Fund Luncheon, we would like to take a moment to correct an important oversight and recognize a valued community partner whose contributions helped make the event truly special.

A vital part of our luncheon's atmosphere and cultural experience was made possible through the creativity and generosity of Mrs. Cassandra Fann-Pierce.

Mrs. Fann-Pierce graciously provided the beautiful African table runners, original artwork prints, and the stunning raffle quilt that enhanced our event and reflected the rich heritage and spirit of our community.

Due to an organizational oversight, Mrs. Fann-Pierce was not formally acknowledged during the program. The NAACP Greater Waterbury Branch sincerely apologizes for this omission.

Our mission is rooted in community, partnership, and appreciation for those who help advance our work. We are deeply grateful to Mrs. Fann-Pierce for her exceptional contributions, generosity, and unwavering support. Her artistry and commitment added warmth, beauty, and meaning to our Freedom Fund Luncheon.

Please join us in extending our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Mrs. Cassandra Fann-Pierce for helping make our event a memorable success.

With sincere gratitude,
