Last week, Bristol Elementary School welcomed CLiF presenter and graphic novelist Mat Heagerty. As someone with dyslexia, Mat struggled with reading as a child and now uses his platform to highlight the many strengths associated with neurodiversity. Here's what he shared with us in a profile last year:

"I am so grateful to be welcomed into so many schools across America where I get to see kids who are struggling and really lacking confidence stand a little taller with pride as I talk about how special being neurodiverse is. I have had so many happy-cries in schools with students sharing their experiences. And a massive joy of my life is the emails I receive from parents or teachers after my visits sharing the positive impact my presentations had on their struggling students."

"[Matt's] presentations were highly engaging for the students, especially for the kindergarten and 1st grade students, who thought he was hilarious and couldn't stop laughing. After each presentation, we had a book giveaway where each student could choose two free books to take home. One 4th grade student I passed in the hallway was hugging her new books to her chest and exclaimed, 'This makes me so happy!' The next day, she was reading one of her books on the swing at recess."
