🐰 Very exciting news for the Waterboro Land Trust and our awesome town!!! We’re working with the NRCS (National Resources Conservation Service) to create a habitat for The Endangered New England Cottontail! Also called the gray rabbit, brush rabbit, wood hare, wood rabbit, or cooney, is a species of cottontail rabbit represented by fragmented populations in areas of New England, specifically from southern Maine to southern New York.

You may see some clear cutting near Bennett Hill Road happening and this is why! The size (approx 17-20 acres) and the location of the cut were determined by a wildlife biologist with NRCS, which is a division of the USDA!

As always, we work hard to preserve our town‘s land for all people and animals to enjoy for years and years to come.

If you have any questions about this particular project or want to get involved with the land trust, please feel free to send us a message anytime!

Happy Fall! 🍁 Over the weekend a member and his family started marking off a trail for all to use. This trail is located off of Clark’s Bridge Road next to the house with solar panels on the right side. The entrance to the trail is a 10’ wide cutout into the pine trees. You’ll see bright green marking ribbon to guide you. The trail so far is about .5 mile into the woods. There is a small gravel pad for parking. We hope to continue making these fun trails for you all! Please take photos if you plan to visit! Thank you!
