Meet Jonathan Kent Adams!

When asked what he believes makes Water Valley such a creative place - this is what he had to say, "I knew Water Valley was special when I came to an art crawl in 2012. People were opening their homes, galleries, and studios to let the community see and celebrate art. If I was going to stay in Mississippi, I wanted to be in a town like this. A few years later, I ended up renting a studio from Joe York at 20 S Main, and now I have a studio that Justin McDaniel and Randy Uncapher renovated at Courthouse Commons. One of the reasons Water Valley keeps creativity alive is people like them believe artists have a place in our community. Another reason is the mix of people and beliefs. We are poor, middle class, rich, all the shades of skin, gay, straight, church people, country people, city people, conservative, liberal, independent, a mix of all things, etc. In a time where everyone is so divided, I think I see moments of what America is supposed to be like here- and art is better when there is freedom to be yourself. "

Introducing a new monthly series: Front Porch Stories.

With this series we want to celebrate the people, places, creativity, and connections that make Water Valley feel like home. Because around here, art isn’t just found in galleries - it’s woven into our daily life.

We hope you’ll follow along, share your thoughts, and help us continue telling the story of Water Valley, one front porch at a time.

✨ Reminder! ✨

Join us this Sunday May 17th from 2-4pm for a special book signing & reading! 📚💫

Come meet Mark Neaves, hear selections from his book Mississippi Axe Murders: Tragedy in Water Valley; and enjoy an afternoon of stories, community, and conversation. Signed copies will be available, and we’d love to see you there!

Bring a friend, grab a drink, and settle in for a wonderful event!

Join us for an afternoon of Water Valley history with author and educator Mark Neaves, as he discusses his book Mississippi Axe Murders: Tragedy in Water Valley—a carefully researched look at one of the most talked-about cases in Depression-era North Mississippi.

A lifelong North Mississippian and 22-year history teacher, Mark brings a historian's eye to the people, the era, and the small-town world of 1931 Water Valley.
Expect a thoughtful presentation, a Q&A, light refreshments, and copies available for signing.

All are welcome!
Sunday, May 17th from 2-4pm inside The Drawing Room at The Magnolia Coffee Co.
