Alaska’s Healing Hearts is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to supporting our military and veterans and their families primarily through recreational rehabilitation and community integration. We have been in operation since November 2010 and our board of directors is made up of an all volunteer team of very active and involved members of our community. Our outreach to Warriors is funded by individual persona
l donations and moderate corporate type sponsorship. Our total cost of administrative operational expenses are slightly over 10% which covers insurance, accounting, equipment maintenance and repairs and facility rental to secure our event support gear. The balance of our expenses are directly to support and fund the programs and events that we provide. We offer year round events including but not limited to trail rides via UTV, SnoGo, & horseback, snow shoeing via our our GoSēk Trekking adventure program, ice fishing through our Hardwater Warriors Program, as well as summer fishing, hiking, and family camps and outings around our great state. Our Lake Louise Retreat (The Island of Hope & Healing) is a 33 acre island with 15 cabins, community kitchen, a covered fire pit & pavilion, 3 playgrounds for all aged children, 3 docks, a huge private beach and numerous trails to quiet fishing spots, all accompanied by 26 mainland acres perfect for general recreational relaxing and regrouping off the grid. Our retreats offer various levels of purpose driven focus as we engage in transitional coaching and assist with occasionally available grant funding for training for “next careers” for military service members as well as Veterans and Familiy members. Our average annual reach is over 2,000 Warriors & families per year right here in Alaska.
